bet365 Handicap Chase

A great weekend of action with Sunday seeing the Irish Champion Hurdle and Faugheen just expected to turn up to take the spoils?….however prior to that, Saturday brings a decent day of racing action with several noted events….including the Clarence House Grade 1 at Ascot and the Peter Marsh at Haydock…..the former has already gone a 5 runner with no value, so we’ll concentrate this weekends efforts in the 15.35 bet365 Handicap Chase run from Ascot.

With Reve de Sivola still declared but expected to run the Peter Marsh at Haydock we will skip that one.

Regal Encore makes his handicap bow after winning over fences in good style at Plumpton LTO and being a JP McManus horse has Barry Geraghty booked. However, his opening mark of 144 and being relatively unproven at the trip in these yielding conditions is one we will passover.

Royal Regatta is from one of our trainers of choice……Philip Hobbs. He was an impressive C&D winner here LTO and his third win from just the nine starts over fences. He was fitted with blinkers for that race and we would imagine that would be the case again. However, he’ll be near the head of the market and the going remains a niggling doubt.

Minella Reception goes for NT-D who is lightly raced due to various minor niggling injuries and if putting in a shift is one at the weights who could have gone under the radar with very little mileage on the clock.

Salubrious comes on the back of a poor showing here and we still have question marks about some of the Nicholls horses seeing out their races……..he interestingly drops back in trip here.

Bennys Mist is one of  Venetia Williams’…(pictured) three entries but is another on a mark (145) which looks prohibitive after winning the Grand Sefton LTO at Aintree, despite staying on in good style, his sketchy 2015 form….2 pulled ups…makes him easy to look past.

Dare Me is her second runner who has tumbled the weights after ‘two pulled ups’ and a fall from the last three outings. It would take some form reversal to warrant a bet here but goes at a monster 25’s.

Were going with her final member of the trio…..COLD MARCH for a nibble here. He went into the book after impressing at Wincanton last term and the French import recorded an impressive 7 length win over Pearls Legend over C&D in October.

Despite getting a 10lb hike to boot, he hasn’t failed to cope with that rise, running well again at the track LTO and is one who is always staying on strongly at the finish to warrant a chance on this going….where doubts remain against the others, the booking of Aidan Coleman is another plus.

Suggested bet….

COLD MARCH each-way 8/1 in the bet365 Chase
