Betfair Chase at Haydock News
Owner Robert Waley-Cohen says Long Run (FR) is set to compete again in the Betfair Chase at Haydock on Saturday.
Trained by Nicky Henderson, Long Run has been runner-up behind Silviniaco Conti and Kauto Star in the last two runnings of the Betfair Chase. The 2011 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner blew the cobwebs away, finishing a toiling fifth in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby at the beginning of the month.
Waley-Cohen told The Daily Mail: “It is the Gold Cup without Sir Des Champs, but so far everything is on target for Long Run.
“He has a good track record and will benefit from having had a run, even though he only ran properly for two and a half miles. But it is still better than not having had a run.
“He schooled really well with Yogi Breisner in the indoor arena last Wednesday and he worked well on Saturday. The reports are good.”
Today there is jumps racing from Fakenham, Lingfield and Wexford, plus all-weather action at Southwell and Wolverhampton. Yesterday our EW selections finished 2nd & 4th at 11/2 & 9/2 respectively….
Southwell 13.10…..Fairy Wing returns to the all weather after a couple of modest efforts sandwiched with a win at Ffos Las on the soft.
