Betfred Cesarewitch 2014
QUICK JACK is now a clear 6/1 favourite with the sponsors for Saturday’s long distance handicap the Betfred Cesarewitch.
Saturday’s Betfred Cesarewitch is always an bit of a guessing game with National Hunt trainers throwing a few into the mix with their dual code performers.
Tony Martin’s dual-purpose performer Quick Jack is the ante-post favourite for the race, although that is said to be ground dependent? He’s a consistent performer with five victories and 4 frame fillers from the last nine starts.
His Timeform rating has gone from 72 to 104 on the flat and 102 to 130p over sticks, and with wins over an extended two miles at Cheltenham shouldn’t have a problem here.
Swnymor is another dual purpose class act and coincidentally finished behind the current favourite at Galway when meeting trouble in running on the home turn bend. It could have been a lot closer that day and looks value here at double the odds of Quick Jack.
Big Easy is yet another dual code runner whose trial race saw him finishing second after a significant lay off and should be primed and appreciate any more rain this week?
Ray Ward is a straight forward flat performer with strong credentials following a close up third at HQ last time out. Second in the Goodwood Stakes shows he has no stamina issues. A strong gallop on Saturday would suit him, but whether he gets the top of the ground surface he needs is questionable with the current forecast?
Nearly Caught ran a good Ebor after a lay off….he’d prefer a bit of cut and it looks like that will occur, but with just three runs in nearly a year, is a concern why that is the case?
Our early view……
Obviously we’ll watch how the weather and going develops over the week but presently SWYNMOR has definite each-way value following that ‘notebooking’ run at Galway and a best priced 14/1 with Betfred
