Likely favourite is the lightly raced William Haggas trained Conduct, who needs to overcome a poor draw to land this contest.

Rhombus and John Gosden-trained Lahaag are others at the top of the market, the latter won a 1m4f handicap at York last time out but has a ton of weight to carry here under the testing conditions? So from the 3 market leaders, perhaps money talks, Rhombus is the best chance based on the weight of ante-post money being placed on him….he’s been heavily backed in from 16”s to todays best price 8/1 with the sponsors Betfred.

However, we again look for some value with 4 places being on offer in this 20 runner event. We’ll take John Gosden’s other runner and top of the handicap AIKEN to return to form under these testing conditions. A second place in last years Irish St Leger makes this ‘entire’, the obvious class horse in the race. With 3 wins from 5 races on soft through to heavy he can be EW value at a best priced 18/1 with Bet Victor

Doncaster 16.05.…and another wide open affair to bring the curtain down on the flat as the apprentices go head to head. Four places on offer again in this 21 runner field. We had some nice EW value with TED’S BROTHER last time out when he finished 2nd at Yarmouth at 16/1. We will take some more of the same again today at a best priced 16/1 with Bet Victor
