Cartier Racing Awards 2013

UNBEATEN Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Treve underlined her superstar status on Tuesday night when crowned horse of the year at the 23rd annual Cartier Racing Awards.

It’s European racing’s equivalent of the Oscars and was conducted before an invited audience of 330 at the Dorchester Hotel in London.

Trained by Criquette Head-Maarek for Sheikh Joaan Al Thani, the daughter of Motivator has triumphed on all five of her starts, the latest three in Group 1 company, and remains in training next year.

Treve, who saw off strong opposition from Sky Lantern, Moonlight Cloud, Novellist and Al Kazeem to take the top accolade, also collected the three-year-old filly award, again ahead of Sky Lantern, with Just The Judge, Chicquita and Talent the other nominees.

The flat AWT season continues today at Kempton Park and Lingfield, today we have two selections from the latter meeting.

Lingfield 14.00…..BALTI’S SISTER goes in the fillies 7f handicap and last time out was up against one of our hot-pots, Horsted Keynes. She finished 6th and was just starting to do her best work at the finish after being held up for a long period. She has impressive form on the AWT with an 80{70aeb3532cb26dbe277d25ea128ebb74de84b9bd22e1583b0eb1b73768e061f6} strike rate and is 1 from 2 here. This is a drop in class and despite top weight can feature her at an EW best priced 8/1 with Ladbrokes.

Lingfield 16.00…..SHIRATAKI ran a decent 2nd behind Landau, who has gone on to win again so the form of that race looks sound. He finished well in front of Silver Lace and Understory in that race so should be EW value at 7/1 with SkyBet.
