Trainer Gary Moore declared himself “delighted” after watching his stable star Sire De Grugy school over a dozen fences in preparation for his comeback.
The Champion Chaser has not raced since winning the bet365 Celebration Chase at Sandown last April.
A recent setback had cast doubt on his hopes of defending his crown in the Queen Mother at Cheltenham.
Sire De Grugy is 4/1 in the win and each way market ahead of the Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, while Sprinter Sacre can be backed at 5/2.
“The weather has been a nightmare, really, but the thaw meant that he could pop over 12 fences with Jamie (Moore) and did so with all his usual zest,”
“The plan from here is he’ll work Wednesday, Saturday and then again next Tuesday. That should all put us spot-on for Newbury.”Gary Moore.
Moore was delighted with what he witnessed and is now planning to step things up ahead of a return to the track at Newbury.
With both horses seemingly confirmed as fit and healthy, the intriguing prospect of a much anticipated meeting between Sire De Grugy and Sprinter Sacre appears to be edging ever closer.
