Cheltenham 2014: Ante-Post News
Sprinter Sacre has already got the likely Cheltenham 2014 opposition running scared two months before the Festival.
Nicky Henderson believes his horse is fine after suffering a heart scare and being pulled up at Kempton Park last time. He is a best priced 10/11 with Skybet for the Queen Mother or 4/7 with a run from bet365
However, after check-ups, he has now been declared OK for Day 2 and that’s enough to worry Irish trainer Tony Martin who has plans to run his Benefficient in either the Queen Mother Champion Chase or Ryanair Chase….currently a best 10/1 with Skybet for the Quuen Mother and 8/1 for the Ryannair.
Benefficient won the Jewson Novices Chase at last year’s Prestbury Park and looks likely to be returning after winning at the Leopardstown festival.
He’s never let us down there.
Tony Martin
But Sprinter Sacre’s involvement in the Queen Mother’s Champion Stakes would almost certainly see him go for the Ryanair.
Martin has tremendous respect for his own horse and claimed his win at the Irish track over the festive season was quite excellent. It’s a track the horse loves and Martin said: “He’s never let us down there.”
He said that he’s unlikely to get another run before Cheltenham 2014 and revealed that he had put the horse in both events so that he can wait until the week before the meeting before deciding which to put him into.
Martin added: “All being well he’ll run in one or the other. If Sprinter Sacre turns up I’d say we’ll avoid him and go for the Ryanair.”
Sizing Europe is 14/1 to win the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham 2014, with Al Ferof at 6/1.
The feature race, Cheltenham Gold Cup 2014…….
Bob’s Worth will go off a short priced favourite at around 5/2…..has a favourite’s chance and is a class act plus unbeaten at Cheltenham.
Cue Card should run a place for Colin Tizzard but needs fast ground. A great jumper but if the going gets too soft will tire at the bottom of the hill.
We had Silviniaco Conti on Boxing Day in the King George, however will have to be at his jumping best to go close here.
Rubi Ball ran well on his initial outing over fences in Ireland with the ground being a lot quicker than he would have liked. Any improvement on that should see him a likely frame finisher at a big price……we think the 33/1 on offer with Skybet with a run, is a nice early bet to have in the bag?
