The Queen Mother Champion Chase is a Grade 1 chase covering two miles, for horses aged five years and upwards and always one of the highlights of the Cheltenham Festival plus the Day 2 feature. Previous Arkle winner Douvan is allegedly the banker of the meeting.

- Won a graded chase on last completed outing
- RPR of 165+ last time out
- Run 2 to 3 times this season
- Run 7 to 13 times over fences (or a previous Champion Chase winner)
- Won over 50{70aeb3532cb26dbe277d25ea128ebb74de84b9bd22e1583b0eb1b73768e061f6} of completed career chase starts
- 2nd or 3rd season chaser (or previous Champion Chase winner)
- Won over at least 2M 1F
- Previously won a grade 1 chase
- Course winner (or having first course run)
- significant previous race form:
- Past Arkle or Champion Chase at 2016 Festival
- Tingle Creek, Shloer and Maghull Novice Chases
- Kingmaker, Game Spirit, Clarence House or Tied Cottage Chase’s LTO
