Cheltenham Paddy Power Gold Cup
Today’s meeting is the biggest outside of the Festival and the first major jump meeting of the season. In yesterdays column we previewed and selected CHAMPION COURT for the big race and we see no late reason to change our minds.
Cheltenham 14.30…..Champion Court is the stable star of former Cheltenham groundstaff member turned trainer, Martin Keighley. He’s a course winner, though proved disappointing on festival days, finishing fourth to Bobs Worth in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle, second to Sir Des Champs in the Jewson Novices’ Chase and fifth to Cue Card in last season’s Ryanair Chase.
Keighley commented, “I think he has a really good chance and seems to have everything in his favour,” he said. “I am looking forward to it. You just couldn’t wish for a horse to go into a race any better. His work has been great, his schooling has been great, he just needs a bit of luck in running and if he does he will be bang there.
Champion Court is best priced 8/1 with the sponsors – Paddy Power, second favourite is the David Pipe-trained Ballynagour, who heads the market at a best priced 15/2.
Jonjo O’Neil and AP have been the success story of the season to date and have the only other runner under 10’s in Johns Spirit currently a best priced 17/2.
We’ve ended the week on a high with COME ON BLUE CHIP doing the business last night at 5/1 with another selection, LEONARD THOMAS finishing 2nd at 3/1. Let’s hope Saturday gives us an overall profit for the week?
Lingfield 14.00…..BRONZE ANGEL is the selection from Marcus Tregoning’s stable. The class horse and last years Cambidgeshire winner is lightly raced and boasts a 100{70aeb3532cb26dbe277d25ea128ebb74de84b9bd22e1583b0eb1b73768e061f6} record over track and trip. Only 2lb heavier than winning the Cambrideshire he is a best priced EW saver 4/1 with BetButler and can get a berth her at the expense of Mark Johnston’s Marshgate Lane who is also EW value at a best priced 9/1 with Bet Victor
Lingfield 14.35….Bancnuanaheireann won for us in the Silver Cambridgeshire at big odds, however has shown no form at all on the polytrack thus far. Tales of Grimm is the likely favourite but lacks the AW experience and a best priced 9/4 with Skybet is no value. We go for an EW punt on TINSHU who has dropped to last years winning mark. She was 4th/11 last time out at Windsor when losing the race right at the outset when veering left out of the stalls. She won over C&D in November last year and looks great value at a best priced EW at 18/1 with Betfred
We are showing nearly 50{70aeb3532cb26dbe277d25ea128ebb74de84b9bd22e1583b0eb1b73768e061f6} ROI for our Full Seasons Flat Selection Results….check them out!
