The Grey Gatsby win the Dante
The Dante was supposed to give a Derby pointer yesterday but the only thing it did was firm up the betting on AUSTRALIA who is now odds on to land the blue riband event next month.
The Dante victory for The Grey Gatsby failed to shake up the Derby betting after hot-favourite True Story despite suffering interference from the winner, hardly looked an unlucky loser in third.
Australia, who finished six places ahead of The Grey Gatsby when finishing third in the 2,000 Guineas, is now 8/11 from 5/4 with Paddy Power for the Epsom Classic, with credible opposition seemingly thin on the ground.
The Grey Gatsby, trying a trip beyond a mile for the first time, settled beautifully for Ryan Moore in third in the early stages, headed only by pacesetter Odeon and the Richard Hannon-trained Bunker.
True Story, second favourite for the Derby, took a while to find his top gear and, although closing on the eventual winner when he hung to the stands’ rail, never looked like getting on terms with The Grey Gatsby.

Another great day yesterday, although it took us to our last selection at Newmarket that pulled in a fine 10/1 winner in CERTAVI…..that followed up a nice EW on Fort Bastion at 8/1 but a flop with our win bet True Story……..however, profit is profit as they say!!!

Today sees another combination of our noted horses from last year and our season to date. For those following them all for their next three runs the list is below, but we’ll discuss the strongest bets from those.

Today’s Racing Selections…..
York 13.45……SEAL OF APPROVAL has a Group 1 win under her belt and was staying on when clipping heels and falling over this distance at Doncaster earlier. Lightly raced and with a penalty here, Hayley Turner always gives us an honest race.
She may just give us some value in a fight out with Tac De Boistron for Marco Botti, who was impressive on his reappearance. Our selection just gets the nod based on value at a best EW price 10/1 with PaddyPower.
York 15.15……Radiator will go off a hot favourite for Sir Michael Stoute. However, she looked a little one paced as a hot favourite for a Group 3 at Newmarket in the autumn won by 1000 Guineas heroine Miss France.
The extra distance should help and she is the one to beat. We go with recent Thirsk Winner PELERIN who seemed to win as she liked. Marco Botti’s chestnut filly is another with EW value for us today at 8/1 with SkyBet.
Newbury 16.10……ARAB DAWN was an impressive winner first time out this season, he’s been stuffed with an additional 10lb for that and for those going with him is a win only 3/1 with SkyBet. Raven Ridge may provide the opposition and possibly a value bet if it remains an 8 runner race with no withdrawals.
York 16.25.….. TIGHT FIT returned with a career best at Leicester on her pipeopener this season and will appreciate drying ground today. With 7 WIN/PLACES from 12 outings she is one for the frame and currently at 4/1 with PaddyPower she is one who we can have an EW saver on if not going for the win in a strong race.
Hamilton 19.00…..two of our noted are up against each other as RED CHARMER goes against Dark Ocean. We fancy best value will be had on the former as Anne Duffield’s bay gelding who arrives on the back of a personal best and is a dual C&D winner.
Dark Ocean ran a shocker at Pontefract last time having won at the same track before that, so with RED CHARMER dropping back in trip after going close over 10f and only5lb higher than September’s victory over C&D, is another currently at 4/1 with PaddyPower who we can have an EW saver on if not going for the outright win.
