Easter Sunday Racing News: 18th April 2014
Today’s Racing News sees The Easter Festival continue with Sunday racing at Musselburgh Racecourse and the return of the Musselburgh Gold Cup………plus some amazing news about the Scoop6, check it out….
None of this seasons ‘notebook’ horses are going today, or our 12 to follow. However, we will look at a three of last seasons noted eyecatchers….
14.05 Musselburgh……TAXIFORMISSBYRON did our EW backers proud back end of the season last year and she owes us nothing. In this field she is still stands out as proven on the going and a dual winner at the trip.
Going first time on the flat for new trainer Iain Jardine today, she looks pretty friendless here so a small EW at a big price could be tempting today.
Jockey Tom Eaves is booked who has won on her twice so we’ll have a nibble about the early bird best price of 22/1 with SkyBet with just 14’s and 16’s elsewhere!
15.05 Musselburgh……Red Charmer was carried over from our notebook from last year and available at around 14/1 but is unproven at the 9f trip, so possibly even better value could be had about another Tom Eaves mount in ACT YOUR SHOE SIZE.
Proven on the going, trip and a course winner is a best EW price 20/1 with Bet Victor and just 14’s and 16’s elsewhere.
15.35 Musselburgh.….2 mile staying events do not really come into our remit and we can’t fathom why we even have DR IRV in our notebook from last year! He must have come in as a selection from one of our network contacts but no one at Always Back Winners can remember who…lol!
Looking at his form it will take a big effort to win on seasonal debut but as he is the only one of this field to have won at the trip….is a course winner and acts on the going….. it would be remiss of us not to include him in a 10 runner field where we are paid out on 3 places and a best EW price 14/1 with Bet Victor
Last selections results….
Good Friday’s selections gave us another break even day with our EW early birds. Two selections and we managed to get 8/1 about EXTRA NOBLE, who was backed into favourite and finished 2 lengths adrift of Bilimbi in 2nd. Our othe selection Majestic Moon finished well down after again being backed into favourite from our 6/1 taken early doors.
We’ve just had one outing from one of our 12 flat horses to follow with Van Percy winning at the first time of asking……he’s declared in a race run over the Derby course at Epsom this week, so we’ll give a view then if he goes.
Our ‘notebook performance’ horses have had two outings with a 25/1 place with Lincoln winner Ocean Tempest last weekend and Rudi Five One putting up a good effort to finish 5th at Newmarket last week in a real hot race with Derby entry Cloudscape coming out on top.

NEXT weekend the biggest ever Scoop6 win dividend will be up for grabs and with the win fund already sitting at £1,528,248, and with £1,533,528 in the bonus pot, Betfred expect the combined pool to exceed £4 million as the bet rolled over for the eighth consecutive week.
The £3,061,776 rollover, the fourth largest in Scoop6 history, came after just four legs on a day when big-priced winners stumped punters. The £1.5m bet into the fund on Saturday took the win dividend to within £14,000 of the highest ever total, but did not provide a single winning ticket.
“We were 4-6 that the Scoop6 was won this Saturday and incredibly once again it rolled after just four legs,” said Totepool spokesperman Mark Pearson. “Turnover was massive at £1,585,098 and next weekend the combined win and bonus funds will go over £4m.
“If it eludes the punters again it would be a record rollover in the bet’s fifteen year history. We could even end up with record combined funds which was in November 2008 when it hit £4.5m. The Scoop6 has once again caught the public’s imagination.”
Get on the Scoop 6 with Betfred who are also offering all new mobile customers a free £10 Sports bet. Once players have used their free £10 bet, they will also be entitled to a £25 Matched Bet.
