Epsom Derby Festival starts today
Today sees the start of the Epsom Derby Festival and we concentrate on the feature blue riband race – The Investec Oaks in memory of the late Sir Henry Cecil….
Yesterday we boomed it with 2 winners and an EW 8/1 second from our 3 selections. We’re rocking along at over 50{70aeb3532cb26dbe277d25ea128ebb74de84b9bd22e1583b0eb1b73768e061f6} strike rate and over 100{70aeb3532cb26dbe277d25ea128ebb74de84b9bd22e1583b0eb1b73768e061f6} ROI and close to doubling our initial starting bank for the season.

Today’s Racing……
None of our pre-season ’12 to follow’ selections go but we’ve a few notebook horses going today, so we’ll just look at a couple of potential opportunities plus our consideration for The Oaks…
Today’s race is named in memory of Sir Henry Cecil who saddled the winner of the Oaks eight times – in 1985, 1988, 1989, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000 and 2007.

16.00 Epsom…..Marvellous lived up to her hype when blasting clear in the Irish 1,000 Guineas. However with a small doubt over her staying we can look for some value elsewhere in the field.
Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned pair, Taghrooda and TARFASHA are leading contenders and both in good form. Taghrooda has been well backed and looks certain to stay the trip so should go close, however we’re plumping for the owners second colours in TARFASHA.
Dermot Weld’s filly is a half-sister to Saddler’s Rock and Irish Derby runner-up Galileo Rock. The step up to 12f should be no issue based on that bloodline and is an best priced EW 7/1 with SkyBet.
Onto the rest of our notebook runners….
14.10 Epsom……Mark Johnston’s SENNOCKIAN STAR gets another chance after he rewarded us with a nice pick up at Chester when we had the one-two home with Tres Coronas. Danger may come from another of our profitable charges last year in Clon Brulee who has reportedly been performing well in Dubai. However, our nominated is a C&D winner previously and on the ground he likes is a best 10/1 with PaddyPower.
15.20 Epsom……SPIRIT OF THE LAW is our big EW chance. With good form on turning tracks like Kempton and Lingfield, George Chaloner gets 3lb off and has won on him before and a big EW 25/1 with BetVictor.
16.45 Epsom.….THAT’S THE SPIRIT looks a smart prospect after winning both starts to date and is one to follow. He is unbeaten and can remain so here, but reflected in a win only best 11/10 with PaddyPower.
18.30 Leopardstown……MIZYEN has a fantastic Win/Place strike rate with 11 from 16 so is definitely a contender for the frame. A run over the jumps should have him stripping fit and an EW price of 12/1 with SeannieMac.
