Today’s Racing News

Golden Horn will be lining up for the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on Saturday week as long as conditions are suitable.
Owner Anthony Oppenheimer says the John Gosden-trained colt is “definitely” going to run the Dante, Derby and Eclipse winner at Ascot unless the ground conditions deteriorate.
“We’ve definitely decided to run next week as long as the ground is not very soft or heavy.
“Hopefully the weather will stay as it has been, nice and fine,” Oppenheimer said.
Should he turn up at Ascot and win Golden Horn would become just the fourth horse to complete the hat-trick of Derby, Eclipse and King George in the same season.
The list of horses to have done what he is attempting is elite and it would be very nice to create history.
Anthony Oppenheimer
Oppenheimer has been involved with the Ascot contest as a sponsor for some time, ensuring it would be a special feat on a personal level if his colt can achieve it.
Golden Horn is now 1.50 in the market to emulate Nashwan, Mill Reef and Tulyar by adding victory in the King George to his already outstanding CV this season.
Oppenheimer is still basking in the glory of what Golden Horn achieved with his brave front-running performance under Frankie Dettori in the Eclipse.
“He showed he was versatile at Sandown, making all the running. It was a tough way for him to do it but he came through again,” he added.
King George Betting….
Golden Horn 1.50
Snow Sky 6.00
Telescope 13.00
We’ve just got one selection to consider today from today’s Epsom card…….
Epsom 18.45…..
ARANTES was impressive when winning here over 10f last week. He’s expected to stay out that extra 2f and with Daniel Cremin again in the set. He’s unpenalised for that and so looks ‘wipes yer face’ each-way value at a best 4/1 with SkyBet this evening.

Today’s Epsom Timeform…
18.10 Tattenham Corner Claiming Stakes (5) 7f
Timeform Top Rated
101 3. OCEAN LEGEND Tony Carroll Liam Keniry
97 1. FREDDY WITH A Y Gary Moore Hector Crouch (7)
92 5. DELUXE Richard Hannon Mitch Godwin (7)
Analyst’s Verdict: The veteran Ocean Legend is in the best form, and he looks the most solid option with the majority of his rivals out of sorts. Freddy With A Y can give him most to think about if bouncing back from 2 below-par efforts.
18.45 Kingswood Handicap (5) 1½m10y
Timeform Top Rated
88 7. KNIGHT MUSIC Michael Attwater Chris Catlin
86 1. ARANTES Mick Channon Daniel Cremin (7)
85 2. NINETY MINUTES John Best Kieren Fox
Analyst’s Verdict: Arantes did well to come from last to first over 10f at this course last week, and with the step up in trip no problem, he is taken to follow up off the same mark. Ninety Minutes has been largely consistent this year, and looks sure to be on the premises once more, while Knight Music will be a danger if transferring his AW form to turf.
19.15 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden Stakes (5) 7f
Timeform Top Rated
89 2. PHANTOM FLIPPER Richard Hannon Richard Hughes
88 4. SHADOW GAME Mark Johnston Franny Norton
72 5. EPSOM ICON Mick Channon Charles Bishop
Analyst’s Verdict: Phantom Flipper may have run into a smart one at Haydock last time, and he will be hard to beat if reproducing that form. Shadow Game looks the clear danger on known form, but any market support for newcomer Ritasun should be noted.
19.50 Ashtead Handicap (4) 1¼m18y
Timeform Top Rated
92+ 4. MARMOT Roger Charlton George Baker
90 5. MISTER ROCKANDROLL Mark Johnston Franny Norton
89 1. SWEETHEART ABBEY William Knight Jim Crowley
Analyst’s Verdict: Marmot shaped like still in form in a good handicap at Salisbury last time, maybe unsuited by the longer trip, and looks the one to beat. Recent Newbury scorer Compton Bird, who won this race last year, looks the main danger.
20.20 Arthur Budgett Memorial Handicap (4) 7f
Timeform Top Rated
96 4. DENZILLE LANE Mark Johnston Franny Norton
96 8. EASTERN DRAGON Michael Scudamore William Twiston-Davies
95 1. LIBERTY JACK Jim Boyle Richard Hughes
Analyst’s Verdict: Liberty Jack won nicely over C&D recently and a 3 lb rise for that success looks fair, so he is taken to follow up with Richard Hughes booked. Denzille Lane proved he can be competitive off this mark when just caught late on last time, and he will be a live danger once more, while Eastern Dragon looks well treated at present, also.
20.50 Burgh Heath Handicap (5) 1m114y
Timeform Top Rated
93 4. BAKHT A RAWAN Mark Usher Liam Keniry
92 3. VALE OF IRON John Best Kieren Fox
89 1. MERRITT ISLAND Sir Mark Prescott Bt Chris Catlin
Analyst’s Verdict: Merritt Island looked to be doing too much too soon at Newmarket last time, but was caught only in the final furlong and wasn’t beaten far in the end, suggesting she is still in good form, so she is taken to regain the winning thread. Bakht A Rawan was much improved when winning at Nottingham recently, and he is feared most.
