Flat horses to follow 2014

flat horses to follow 2014 stalls

Today we’re putting up our 12 Flat horses to follow 2014, this after our mini-post Cheltenham break from putting up selections.

However, we were straight back into profits with our EW 10/1 shot, LIVING THE LIFE, that finished third and our only selection of the week posted on the facebook links.

We’ve got a real livewire outsider today for small EW stakes, the horse should be winning soon but today maybe a chance to get a real big price for just a place…….more about that after our 12 Flat horses to follow 2014,

Twelve Flat horses to follow 2014

These are the horses that we think are worth following  throughout the 2014 flat season. We will consider backing them on their next three outings as long as conditions (ground, track, distance, trainer form, odds, etc.) are right.

Hopefully we will take the profits with them through the season as they progress, so ‘bookmark’ the webpage.

However, we will post on the website when a ’12 to follow’ horse is due to run and whether we consider its chances as good for EW or win investments.

Afsare

Afsare’s reluctance to enter stalls was the main reason Kieren Fallon is no longer be riding horses owned by the Sheikh whose principal trainer is Luca Cumani. However Andrea Atzeni built up a formidable partnership which hopefully will progress through 2014. Particularly impressive in the Goodwood celebration mile where he travelled strongly and quickened clear inside final furlong. Looks to go on anything from Good/Soft through to Good/Firm and from 8f – 10f, looks a good all-rounder to include in our EW calculations

Ashaadd (IRE)

Ashaadd won two of his five starts last season, and was very impressive at Haydock when coming from last to first, showing a smart turn of foot in the process. He appeared not to stay a mile at Sandown previous to that so a stiff seven furlongs looks his limit. Currently wintering and racing in Jebel Ali, we will watch him for coming back over for 7f events.

Consign

Consign is another of our 7/8f horses who can go on anything through Good/Good/Firm and has even notched up a success on Good/Soft. Goes well from fresh and another we’ll be looking to make money on from his first race of the season.

Results: (-/-)

Getaway Car

Getaway Car finished the season well at trips of around 12f and should strip fit early in the season and looks a progressive sort who maybe in front of the handicapper.

Hay Dude

Hay Dude produced a career-best to finish second in the Group 3 Superior Mile at Haydock in September and has been raised 8lb to a mark of 107. However it is possible that his new mark still under-rates his potential for progression and could well be a horse that is better in better quality races off a stronger run pace. He is a Haydock specialist so we will especially consider him there.

Jabhaat (USA)

Jabhaat was only just touched off by the John Gosden highly rated Thomas Hobson at level weights in the 10f BetFred Handicap at Newbury. He proved equally effective on Good through to Good/Firm at 7-10f last season and hopefully will have trained on and start making money from day 1 of the 2014 flat season.

Guising

Guising goes well when fresh and appreciates a bit of cut. Hopefully we’ll catch him early in the season at around 11-12 furlongs on the good to soft.

My Titania (IRE)

My Titania is a big talent and hopefully John Oxx will bring her over from Ireland for The Oaks. It is significant that Oxx speaks highly of My Titania, “she could easily be a 1000 Guineas filly, and there is more than enough stamina in her pedigree to suggest she could also stay the Oaks trip. She could be top class next season”. Twice a winner at 7f and looking like a step up in trip will be no problem should be hard to beat, where you now can get a best priced 16/1 ante-post with Betfair……….

Ningara

Ningara acts from 8f – 10f on top of the ground and should progress well into his 4th year

No Nay Never (USA)

No Nay Never, no bias here as a Clarets Fan, but NNN blew away two top class fields at Deauville and Ascot. Wesley Ward’s Royal Ascot winner was a hot favourite for the Grade Two Swale Stakes a couple of weeks ago at Gulfstream Park – his first start since winning the Prix Morny at Deauville last August – but could only finish second to Spot losing his unbeaten tag in the process. Connections put it down to a lack of sharpness and he should have a big say in events this year.

Pinzolo

Pinzolo could be a good EW longshot for The Derby. Clearly bred for more than a mile and a half, if it’s a test of stamina who knows? Charlie Appleby’s Godolphin colt won two crackers at HQ and Newbury before that Doncaster flop. Put that aside could be a live EW contender at 50/1 with BetFair….

Results: (3rd 13/2, W 5/4)

Van Percy

Van Percy was another horse that came second best to the highly talented Thomas Hobson. Early season 2013 he looked like a horse that was ahead of his handicap mark when he got up on the line to win a three-year-old handicap at Haydock in May having been boxed in for most of the way up the home straight, where he showed a good turn of foot. Looks to be better ridden covered up and produced for a late run and equally at home on a softer surface. His breeding suggests he will improve with age as his dam was a useful mare that got better as she got older.

Results: (W 7/4, U, W 11/4)
