1.40 Ashwicken Selling Handicap Hurdle (5) 2m3y

Timeform Top Rated:
112 1. GENEROUS JACK Suzi Best Daryl Jacob
110 2. HURRICANE MINNIE Michael Scudamore Ben Poste
109 5. QUEEN ADELAIDE John Ryan Paddy Brennan

Analyst’s Verdict:
More interesting than usual for a selling hurdle and Glimpse of Gold is taken to strike back at the scene of his last win having caught the eye at Fontwell last time. Plumpton-winner Generous Jack must be respected despite an 8 lb rise, while Hurricane Minnie, Queen Adelaide and Good Impression are all potential improvers now handicapping.

2.10 Lycetts Farm And Estate Insurance Brokers Novices’ Chase (3) 2m59y

Timeform Top Rated:
154 1. BRELAN D’AS Paul Nicholls Bryony Frost
151 2. DELIRE D’ESTRUVAL Ben Pauling Daryl Jacob
143 3. SHADY OAKS Charles Pogson Charlie Hammond (5)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Brelan d’As isn’t totally convincing, but the return to 2m will help him finish his race with more purpose and he’s the one to beat on this winter’s handicap performances. Delire d’Estruval is in danger of going the wrong way over fences but this is the right sort of race for him to get back on track.

2.45 British EBF ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle (Qualifier) (3) 2½m1y

Timeform Top Rated:
144 3. ON THE SLOPES Chris Gordon Daryl Jacob
141p 7. SOUTHERN SAM Oliver Sherwood Brian Hughes
137p 2. KHAGE Harry Whittington Gavin Sheehan

Analyst’s Verdict:
Pistol Whipped made a very encouraging start over hurdles when third at Newbury, catching the eye with how well he jumped. He is sure to improve over this longer trip and looks the one to be on, though On The Slopes and Khage are just a couple of likely dangers in what looks a good race.

3.20 Tim Barclay Memorial Handicap Chase (Qualifier) (3) 2m5f44y

Timeform Top Rated:
138 1. VALADOM Richard Hobson Paul O’Brien (3)
135 7. SIDEWAYS Christian Williams James Bowen
134+ 3. KAYF BLANCO Graeme McPherson Kielan Woods

Analyst’s Verdict:
Sideways has won both his starts since fitted with cheekpieces, including over C&D, and should make a bold bid for the hat-trick. Kayf Blanco and Volt Face should be in the mix again.

3.50 Lycetts Bloodstock Insurance Brokers Novices’ Handicap Hurdle (4) 2m7f95y

Timeform Top Rated:
131 4. VOLCANO Nigel Twiston-Davies Sam Twiston-Davies
129 6. UNO MAS Christian Williams James Bowen
128 7. HERESMYNUMBER Ali Stronge Brian Hughes

Analyst’s Verdict:
Volcano failed to meet expectations last time, but he’s worth another chance back in slightly calmer waters given how well he shaped on his Uttoxeter handicap debut. The in-form Uno Mas needs respecting, as does Lord du Mesnil.

4.25 William Bulwer Long Memorial Hunters’ Chase (6) 3m38y

Timeform Top Rated:
138 2. RISK A FINE Gareth Moore Mr James King
129§ 3. ZEROESHADESOFGREY R. Cundy Mr Charles Buckle (7)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Risk A Fine and Zeroeshadesofgrey will likely be the duo to fight this out having both tasted success between the flags in December. The first-named, however, completed the job more readily and has the better attitude of the pair, so he’s taken to prevail in an interesting contest for the numbers.

4.55 Fakenham Maiden Open National Hunt Flat (5) 2m3y

Timeform Top Rated:
112+ 1. NICKELSONTHEDIME Kayley Woollacott Daryl Jacob
84 2. PARKIN Harry Whittington Harry Bannister

Analyst’s Verdict:
Nickelsonthedime offered plenty to work on when runner-up in a brace of bumpers to end 2018 for Keith Dalgleish and he can make that experience count starting out for a new yard. There are several interesting newcomers in opposition though, headed by Mr Stan and Penny Mallow.
