12.40 Markel Insurance Amateur Riders’ Handicap Chase (3) 3m1f

Analyst’s Verdict:
A really intriguing opener with the narrow vote in favour of For Good Measure. A useful hurdler, he has caught the eye on each of his 3 starts over fences, doing best of those from off the pace when fifth on return over C&D last month, and his mark is workable. The Young Master scored on return and remains well treated on old form, whilst Station Master remains with plenty of untapped potential.

1.15 Swanee River Supports Countryside Alliance Novices’ Handicap Hurdle (3) 2m87y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Dostal Phil has clearly had his issues since leaving France for big money, but he produced a very promising reappearance after a year off when runner-up in a decent contest at Uttoxeter, and has potentially been let in lightly on that evidence. Snapdragon Fire should have more to offer for a yard that continues to impress, with Irish-raider Try Again completing the shortlist.

1.50 BetVictor Handicap Chase (2) 1m7f199y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Bun Doran acquitted himself well in deeper contests than this last term and looks on a decent mark for his return to action. He can land the spoils. Last year’s winner Doitforthevillage will be a big danger if ready to roll first time up, whilst A Hare Breath goes particularly well fresh and is also much respected.

Analyst’s Verdict:
Nicky Henderson holds a strong hand with Mr Whipped and Jenkins, the former promising to be at least as good a chaser as he was a hurdler. White Moon looks another good chasing prospect in what is a fascinating event.

3.00 Glenfarclas Cross Country Handicap Chase (2) 3¾m37y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Josies Orders, Tiger Roll and Bless The Wings all boast excellent records around here, the first named getting the vote this time with race fitness on his side after a pipe-opener over hurdles.

Analyst’s Verdict:
Darlac was all the rage on his Fontwell hurdles debut last month and looked a good prospect in making a winning start. He looks sure to progress further and can take this step up in grade in his stride. Double Treasure and Coolanly rate the principal dangers.
