Galatasaray v Chelsea: Champions League

It’s Galatasaray v Chelsea in the Champions League on Wednesday.

After a quiet start to the campaign, Jose Mourinho has been back to his rambunctious best in recent weeks. Reserved and humble at the start of the season, the Portuguese manager has been as arrogant and discourteous as he ever was in his previous tenure at the club.

Perhaps that has been healthy for Chelsea, as they are the only side who boast an undefeated home record in the Premier League this season? More importantly, they have moved to the top of the table after victories over Manchester City and Everton this month.

Jose Mourinho and Frank Lampard are both looking forward to facing former Chelsea legend Didier Drogba when the Blues play Galatasaray in the Champions League on Wednesday.

They travel to the intimidating Turk Telekom Arena in a confident mood to face a Galatasaray side with a whole host of household names. Roberto Mancini will line-up in the opposing dug out with Wesley Sneijder, Emmanuel Eboue and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba taking to the pitch.

The 35-year-old Ivory Coast international scored 157 goals during his eight-year spell at Stamford Bridge, making 342 appearances for the club.

He helped Chelsea win their first league title in 50 years before going on to score the winning penalty in the 2012 Champions League final against Bayern Munich.

After a brief spell playing in China, Drogba has been with Galatasaray since January 2013 and is 15/2 to be the first goalscorer in the last-16 first leg encounter against his former employers.

Mourinho said in the build-up to the match: “I look forward to every match and to play against the best and on Wednesday we play the Turkish champions but I know it is going to be difficult to face Drogba.

“It’s going to be a strange feeling to face [Drogba] but we have to do our job as he will help his team.”

The Blues have kept ten clean sheets in their last 14 games and with Mourinho having managed both Wesley Sneijder and Didier Drogba in previous spells, it is likely he will know the best way to keep them quiet.
