Longines Hong Kong International Races 2013: Sha Tin

honk kong international races

Tomorrow sees the Longines Hong Kong International Races Meeting tomorrow at Sha Tin as the international Flat season draws to a close.

Latest News from Hong Kong: Dandino and Galileo Rock have both been withdrawn from the Longines Hong Kong Vase on Sunday after picking up injuries on the eve of the Group 1 contest.

Galileo Rock, placed in the Derby, Irish Derby and St Leger this year, was scratched due to a soft tissue injury to his front left leg while Dandino, last seen finishing fifth in the Melbourne Cup, has a similar injury to his front right leg.

The Europeans have a strong squad for the Hong Kong Vase headed by The Fugue and last year’s winner Red Cadeaux and both Galileo Rock and Dandino had been around the 8-1 mark for victory at Sha Tin.

6.00….Hong Kong Vase (1m 4f) ……..The Fugue is the favourite for John Gosden at a best priced 13/8 with SeannieMac. Well drawn in 3, should take all the beating as she didn’t race until Royal Ascot in June so shouldn’t be burnt out?

Richard Hannon bids to bow out from his enduringly successful training career with a final Group One winner with Sky Lantern in the Group 1 mile event at 7.50.

He hands over the licence to son Richard Junior on the 1st January, but before that significant day his assistant is overseeing the 1000 Guineas, Coronation Stakes and Sun Chariot Stakes winner for her final start of the year.

She will have it all to do to provide Hannon with a winner but may find one better in French filly, Moonlight Cloud. Sky Lantern a best priced 11/2 with bet365 and Moonlight Cloud a best priced 5/4 with SkyBet.

Best EW shot at the meeting could be SIDE GLANCE in the Hong Kong Cup 8.30. He has been running well, winning at Flemington last time out and Jamie Spencer has the ride again…..should go well at a best EW priced 25/1 with SkyBet.

No joy with our big price EW selection yesterday but a great week overall with our selections, starting Monday with a 6/4 then a MEGA 16/1 winner on Tuesday. So…….just 7 advised this week…..W6/4….2nd 13/8…..W 16/1…..4th 20/1…..2nd 2/1…..W 8/1 (from 10’s)……..and yesterday’s Unplaced.

We’ve got two selections lined up for this evenings meeting at Wolverhampton……
Wolverhampton 18.20..we backed GEORGE FENTON last time out when finishing third to the fast finishing Strong Man. He’s been thereabouts and this looks a less competitive race and he can get up at best priced 4/1 with bet365.
Wolverhampton 18.50……The first two in the market look very strong contenders. Dansili Dutch has been in good form here and will go close at a best  priced 4/1 with bet365. Be Royale is upped 9lb as he bids for a hat-trick of course victories. He looked to have something in hand over track and trip last time and is a best priced 11/8 with SkyBet. However, a little EW value maybe had about GALILEE CHAPEL who has tumbled down the weights since winning his maiden. If back to winning form could be the value horse at 8/1 with Bet Victor.
