Horse Racing Selections – 24th April 2021

Saturday sees a good few meetings with the turf beginning to gain some momentum.

Nonetheless, the cards throw up a good number of sub 10 runner races, especially at Ripon where the two significant handicaps go with 6 to post 🙁 Doncaster’s sole race with any numbers turning up is the last race Amateurs that looks a pin job.

We’ll stick with the AW this evening and look to Wolves for our selection with Wetherby looking more inviting on the turf tomorrow.

Back in the morning just before 9.00 am.

For those on the new 2021/22 £1k to £10k Annual Challenge, the bank is £1118.85 and current full stakes, unless advised, £13.90 EW

The All Weather bank currently standing at +148 pts to 1pt EW stakes with over a 39% win/place rate.

  1. Not really your fault Gary. Slowly away, impeded when trying to improve a little, gave up with a furlong to go.
Just not our day and we’ll see better runs I’m sure 😉

  2. Nick, you’re a very forgiving man, that was an absolute outrageously desperate selection. While being in a mini slump selection wise, to press up stakes on a horse who’s shown zero lately and a trainer with zero winners in 6 months, hold up and apprentice up makes me see that that Gary has a blinkered method of selection. I appreciate the pressure to post bets but some of these are just hopeful darts at best which the betting indicates. I’ve enjoyed my subscription here and picked up a few angles but the mechanical decision making is not for me. Best of luck to you all going forward

    • Michael, when you state that Nezar had shown zero form lately, you may want to check its previous run. An half decent break from the stalls and not getting blocked off in the straight would likely have seen the selection go close.

  3. Welcome to the ups and downs of 40% win/place rate Michael. Your choice obviously to take the selection – no claims of desperation when Derek Shaw’s You’re Cool wins after 9 months without a winner and follows up for us 😉

  4. Gary, for God’s sake stop having to explain yourself to a muppet like Michael Heanue ( i make no apologies for using the m word). Just show him the results over the last twelve months ( a good test of a service). He is another who should take up train spotting because he hasn’t got the mentality to make long term profits. Good luck with your angles Michael. They might help you with your geometry

  5. “…a trainer with zero winners in 6 months,”

Ahem, perhaps you may want to check the result of the 1.35 Leicester race Michael! Actually he has had 2 winners in the last 180 days now, during which he has had 93 runners, the vast majority of which were any price you like. Stats can be made to look however you want them too. Incidentally the horse was entitled to be very competitive based on three of last six runs on Racing Post ratings.

Anyway good luck Michael getting to 10k backing 10/11 shots as that appears to be your MO. I’ve been a member for 2-3 months and perfectly happy with how things are going. When you are backing these prices you are not going to get 60% strike rate, yet it seems that is the expectation from some of these people, and in Michael’s case he has made the right decision cos he has joined the wrong service!

    • Now that’s the rationale and long termism I should have used. Glad you’re on board Peter 👍

  6. ‘…hold up and apprentice up’

Forgot to mention Michael also missed the fact it was an apprentice handicap!! 😂😂😂😂
