Horse Racing Selections – 27th June 2022

The week opens with racing at Pontefract, Musselburgh and Windsor.

At Ponty, the opener is a seven runner female ams race. ‘Old timer’ members may well remember a decent winner we had here about Billy Roberts. He goes off around 7’s and has been in decent nick since Simon Whitaker taking over the yard. No idea about a Miss Stephanie Yardeback and will leave that race alone 🙂

There’s a sole selection from that meeting today to kick the week off.

  1. Morning Ian,can you cast your mind back a few weeks ago and i said is racing bent and i told you that the queen would have a winner on her jubilee celebrations well she obliged with a 7/2 winner, so onto last Saturday and a certain fall out with a well known trainer and a top jockey ,well the jockey has his weighing room collages backing him up to the hilt and he has just the one ride at Newmarket on Saturday and in it goes 16/5 a jockeys race if you ask me,sorry that i did no point it out as i was at a graduation ceremony for a friends daughters at Murcia university the nearest i ever to to a university.

  2. I am not into conspiracy theories Peter and i think most races are run honestly. Dettori has been a great in the saddle but as in all walks of life old age gets the better of you (take a look at Diana Ross’ performance at Glasto) I think there is a shift at the top of the jockeys league (don’t forget i know nothing about flat racing) with Buick,Hollie Doyle, James Doyle,Tom Marquand and others now the best in the game. I also believe that had the best of them Oisin Murphy had not been into booze and drugs he would be the top rider for Ballydoyle now. Moore has never been a great in my eyes, very good yes but lacks that special attribute that the best have had. … I also thought the winner Dettori did ride on Saturday looked easily the best horse in the race and most journeymen jockeys would have won on it. Btw Peter, somebody like you doesn’t need a university education, you have gained your knowledge from the university of life and hard work i bet.
