Horse Racing Selections – 28th July 2021

Wednesday sees the 2nd day of Goodwood with meets at Redcar, Leicester and Sandown.

There’s two real low grade C6’s at Redcar with not a whole load of winning form. The (15.20) has two trackers going in with Epieus who we have bits about on the AW and Tracy Jackson’s Point Of Woods. They turn out to be the only ones of this motley crew to have registered a win in the last 5 years! The latter has been backed heavily overnight from 33’s into 10’s so make of that what you will.

Both of these need a little bit of luck in running from off the back and looks a day to sit out.

BOL today and back in the morning with around 8.30am.

For those on the new 2021/22 £1k to £10k Annual Challenge, the bank is £967.15 and current full stakes, unless advised, £12.09 EW

The 2021 Turf bank currently stands at +36.4 pts to 1pt EW stakes with over a 39% win/place rate.

The 2020/21 All Weather bank ended at +144 pts to 1pt EW stakes with over a 39% win/place rate.

  1. Just before i went away for a week i talked about the performances of 3.y.o’s in all aged handicaps at this time of year. Take a look at yesterday’s results and you will see what i was on about. They won seven of the ten i looked at. In a lot of them the 3.y.o’s finished first, second and third. In the 3.25 yarm a 4.yo won it but it was his first run in a handicap highlighting how difficult it is to get a handle on these lightly raced sorts running in handicaps.
No doubt about it ABW is going through a sticky period and i think part of it is due to these bloody 3.y.o’s who are in some cases spoiling the party. Yesterday we got a bit of shrapnel from Ventura flame placing. In first and second place were 2/1 joint favourites, youv’e guessed it both were 3.y.o’s. Keep the faith the tide will soon be turning in our favour.

    • Hi Ian, it’s a very valid point and generally I don’t look at 3yo tgrackers until after the summer. Nonetheless point noted as were the Johnston comments you highlighted previously ….pesky individuals 🙂

    • Thats a good point Ian, I tend to cross out handicaps with 5 or more 3yos running in them, but I may need to tweak that as you say, the 2 3yos in the sprint at Beverley looked well ahead of the handicapper.
