Horse Racing Selections – 29th July 2021

Day 3 from Goodwood with cards at Nottingham and Epsom to boot.

The racing gods seem to have taken note of that cracked mirror and squashed black cat. Point Of Woods duly obliged at 33’s yesterday and pleased for you guys who followed that intro comment yesterday 🙂

Looking at the decent field sizes on the handicap front, at Epsom Jim Boyle throws two hats into the ring for the apprentices race (18.00). On jockey bookings alone he’s opted for two who have by far the leading claims on this type of track with Rhys Clutterbuck & Sean Kirrane. The latter especially gives Angels Roc a decent chance to lose maiden status as he’s done very well both here and Lingfield. Both on at short prices it’s a decision for you lumpers today 🙂 He also gets a nice looking ride in the last (20.35) with Mythical Madness on a hat trick bid from 2 above last win.

There’s one for Nottingham today.

BOL and back in the morning with around 8.30am.

For those on the new 2021/22 £1k to £10k Annual Challenge, the bank is £955.06 and current full stakes, unless advised, £11.94 EW

The 2021 Turf bank currently stands at +36.4 pts to 1pt EW stakes with over a 39% win/place rate.

The 2020/21 All Weather bank ended at +144 pts to 1pt EW stakes with over a 39% win/place rate.

  1. Gary, just a little not with the results tracker – on the 10k challenge you have missed out the bet on 26th, its on the TURF sheet but hasn’t been added into the 10k

  2. With your comments in mind, backed Point of Woods at 16s and with a free fiver bet on Paddy Power got 33s BOG.
    Well pleased.

  4. Very interesting watching your selections Peter. I know you look at the draw as one of your ways in and although i think some of the biases have been addressed and are not as strong, i would always want to have the draw on my side. I also believe stable form is important and would avoid a stable struggling to find winners. With that in mind i would not be keen on Gallipoli in the 7.25Nc. Fahey has a massive string and has had 47 runners since his last win on the 22nd July. I would be interested how your pin fell on Gallipoli. Hope it wins btw and gets the prfits flowing.

  5. Hi Ian, Gallipoli he is a course and distance winner from seven starts and three seconds
    on the going
    1/6/15
    distance
    3/10/34
    runners
    3/9/27
Days off before a win: 28,18,22,13,121

he seems acts well on an artificial surface.
He was around 25s and now down to 16s was worth a bet

  6. Thanks for that Peter. Josh Wright and Ben Aitken dig deep down into stats like that. I like to read Ben’s free stuff.

  7. Thanks Ian, and a nice drift

  8. Rarely comment on here but struggling to remember the last time one looked close to winning, maybe worth taking a few days and coming back with a fresh look at things?

    • No doubt Gary will come good in the end and is feeling it more than any of us atm – hoping for a change in fortunes soon!

  9. Typical of Fahey that Peter. Breaks his long losing run in the race before yours.

  10. Two winners on the day
    11/1
    13/8,was 7/2
