Horse Racing Selections – 31st March 2021

Wednesday sees a sole card at Kempton on the all weather.

It’s predominantly a mix of 3yo and novices. The two C4’s have nothing stand out and quite frankly a day to sit out. Thursday & Friday look to have better opportunities with meets at Chelmsford and Newcastle.

It would have been nice to have another late winner to see the month out. However, have added another 20+ pts to the pot in March and also seen us complete the £1 to £10k challenge since racing resumed last June 🙂 Hopefully we can go some way to repeating that when we kick off again tomorrow.

Back in the morning before 8.30 am.

With the £1 to £10k completed 🙂 will maintain the AW results spreadsheet for those backing LSP.

The bank currently standing at +123.3 pts to 1pt EW stakes with over a 38% win/place rate.

  1. Gary, on the results spreadsheet; there are two fields I can’t quite fathom – Longest W and Longest Up. What do these represent?

  2. Hi Chris, that should be longest without a winner and longest unplaced 🙂

  3. I am being wise after the event here and hindsight is a wonderful thing. However, yesterday there was no way i was going to have a full stake on a Mick Easterby runner. One thing in the selections favour was it was Micks 90th birthday yesterday and it’s a common thought that trainers like to have winners on birthdays( i don’t buy into that).
However, stats show that the Easterby stable is on the decline. In the last year he has had 361 runners with just 20 winning at a 5.5% S.R.. His a/w record is a little better at a 7% S.R.. Since Jan 7th Mick has ran 37 horses with just one winning. I am not saying you should never back a horse from that stable because he will have winners but for me he is a stable to tread carefully with. Perhaps Gary has a line into the yard but the stats since early Jan indicate a distinct lack of form. Cue Mick to have several winners in the first weeks of the flat turf season. LOL.

  4. Morning, can someone please explain the staking system for the £1 to £10k challenge as keen to have a go at this.
As I understand it, it is 2.5% of the bank as an each-way bet until £10k is reached? Could someone confirm please or put me right?

  5. Thanks Gary
So stake is always 2.5% but will increase or decrease in line with amount in bank?

    • That’s correct, if you look at the last spreadsheet you can see it on there. Just to throw a spanner in – we did some 1/2 stakes plays in the early part of the season as form is a tad difficult to assess. Therefore there were som bets at 0.625% EW (1.25%) and advised on the day. Best

      Gary

  6. could you confirm that 1.25% of £1000 is £25 i did not excel with maths or numbers or ratios

    • 1.25% of £1000 is £12.50, therefore the 1.25%EW is the two parts of the bet making it £25.

      Best

      Gary

    • Hi Stephen, the easiest way to work out the bets each day is on a calculator.

      Daily Start Bank – Multiplied by 1.25 – Divided by 100 = £12.50 E.W. or 0.5 bet = £6.25 E.W.

      1000 X 1.25 ÷ 100 = £12.50 E.W.
