Horse Racing Selections – 3rd April 2021

Saturday’s flat racing action sees the turf back at Musselburgh. On top of that we have an all-weather card at Wolves.

Up at Musselburgh, one of our success stories last couple of seasons, Fox Hill goes for  Eric Alston (16.11). There’s been around a 20lb improvement in that time and we’ll watch to see how she goes in this one.

The only other race really of note for us is the (13.50) 7f C3. There’s a few solid performers at 7f in this line up will be noting. Diane Sayer has a great record with Redarna, albeit form has been at Hamilton and Ayr. Roger Fell’s Muntadab is generally an early season type who is nicely handicapped on the back of a poor post summer period. However, it’s Liam Bailey’s Three Saints Bay who is of most interest. Coming in from David O’Meara’s yard, is the type he can turn around the fortunes of and get back to somewhere near that 2019 form, when incidentally he won this very race off 93, now 87.

Early days yet on the turf and for the moment will continue to look on the AW after a cracking start to the new £1k to £10k Challenge 🙂 Kieran O’Neill did pretty much as I had hoped yesterday on Crazy Spin. A pillar to post win clinging on at the death!! Nevertheless, couldn’t have wished for a better start with a 16’s winner early doors and the turf only in its infancy.

There’s a sole selection for Wolves this evening below

Back on Sunday morning with a look at Southwell just before 9.00 am.

For those on the new 2021/22 £1k to £10k Annual Challenge, the bank is £1169.98 and current full stakes, unless advised, £14.62 EW

The All Weather bank currently standing at +150 pts to 1pt EW stakes with over a 39% win/place rate.

  1. So half stakes would mean £7.31 ew

    • Hi Stephen,

That’s correct, but that is based on my returns that have been taken at the initial prices quoted. It should be reflected as to what’s in your bank really as you may not have had exactly the same returns. I wouldn’t get het up about to the exact penny. I tend take to the nearest pound or 50p and then move it up incrementally. The chief thinking is that backing 1.25% EW in theory is 40 bets in the bank of £1000. Obviously half stakes is 0.25% EW but I will always quote the full challenge stake in the progres report. Hope that helps 🙂

  2. Hi, I joined abw yesterday, should I have received an email this morning with any tips or do I need to log into my account to find them?
    Thankyou for your help, Tom.

    • Hi Tom,

If you login to your account you should be seeing todays selection above. You also receive a notification email at 9.00am that has the link to this page. However you need to be logged in to see it. Any problems please shout!

      • Just seen this, thankyou for getting back to me. Would I be correct in saying that this equates to 0.5pts each way?

  3. Funny old game this racing. On 2nd April, David wrote’ Always consistent and reliable while other services struggle and botch’……… It must be his twin brother using the service now, because a few months ago David wrote’ Appalling run of ABW, i will give it another week before bailing……. No worries David, as i have said many times it is how you cope with the losing runs that matters in this game. Anybody can be a boomer when we are winning. The losing run might be around the corner so i hope you keep that doom and gloom twin in his cage. All the best mate.
Great start Gary and the turf season beginning to kick into gear. Warm weather, consistent going is all we need to find those winners that will show a long term profit.

  4. Hi are the results recorded as SP or the prices that when you send out the tips.

  5. You’re right Ian! I’ve had a word with my twin brother and told him to toughen up! He must take the losers like a man and enjoy the successes even more! Even a 3rd at 20-1 like today should fill him with glee, as he would have made a nice profit on the selection. I pointed out to him as well that Gary even mentioned the 12-1 winner in his race preview. We are both happy 🙂

  6. Word of warning hills don’t do bog until
10am & ppower would only let me do £9.30
e/w on 2days bet also no bog 😡😡

  7. After placing todays bet this morning I realised it should have been half stakes, no worries I thought I’ll just cash out and redo but the bookie would not allow… so thankyou bookie I had a third place at 22/1 full stake…happy days lol.

  8. You were fulsome in your praise at Cheltenham Gary so time for me to reciprocate! Brilliant stuff these last few days!! Many thanks!
