Horse Racing Selections – 9th April 2022

Grand National Day will be the focus of most today.

Elsewhere there’s meets on the turf at Thirsk and on the all-weather at Wolves. Again, very early days to be taking those big field handicaps on at Thirsk and will opt for a watching brief there. The (13.30) does look ripe for lumpers with Shallow Hal coming in on the back of a consistent AW form.

Appreciate the ‘April changeover’ patience 🙂 We’ll just go with one backed LTO for a place to hopefully improve on that at Wolves this evening.

  1. not a great start to the season! 🙁 Bowring had his winner at Thirsk…onwards and upwards hey

  2. If you have to back on the Cat Litter David you really shouldn’t have lost yesterday imo. There is no doubt that the service is finding life tough on this surface. With that in mind, if you have to have a bet give yourself a chance of getting a return. If i had had a bet on the tip (stopped weeks ago) then i would have gone with a bookie paying extra place or if you are stopped with them get the extra place on Betfair and bet 20/80.. It is a more conservative way of betting but it eases the pain of long losing runs a fair bit. Just my view of it………. I have said many times that you have to change with the times.Look at the grand national. Many years ago it was just a case of looking at horses that had won over 3m+ that had a weight under 10st 12lb and had experience of the national fences or ran in some kind of national. Since they changed the fences this has all changed and now it is a lottery. A seven year old novice won it yesterday. The last 7.y.o to win it was in 1940 even before i was born. It is the same with any method you have to keep changing your methods rules or you will get skint…. very similar to my football team. The rest of the league appeared to have sussed us out and we appear unable to change tactics. A dumpling like me could see this months ago when i indicated we were in a false position and results would change for the worse. It took a little longer to happen than i thought but it will continue unless we find another way of playing. Difficult game this punting but some are better than others. Over to you Peter.

  3. Gary, have you been updating the results tracker? I can see an entry on the new 10k from the 1st, but nothing since? It’s ok if its on your list, but just wanted to make sure I haven’t missed anything
