Jockey Mark Coumbe injured at Southwell yesterday
Mark Coumbe was injured in a two horse pile up and taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham with suspected back and pelvic injuries after a crashing fall at Southwell yesterday.
The 3lb claimer, who was the only casualty, was stretchered off the course after his mount Gebayl, who broke a blood vessel and lost her action, swerved violently to her left early in the straight and fell heavily, bringing down the William Carson-ridden Roxy Lane in the process.
Neither Carson or Roxy Lane suffered any injuries and Gebayl also got up from her fall, but Mark Coumbe, who was conscious, received immediate medical attention and was assessed on-course before being taken to hospital, accompanied by one of the course doctors.
The incident took the gloss of our 1-2 yesterday that paid £6.33 straight forecast with yesterdays selections FRONTIER FIGHTER and APOSTLE….

Lingfield 16.45.…… CLUB HOUSE should go well and is the short priced nomination to take this unfortunately at just around 5/2 available. One to note for subsequent events will be Daniel Cremin’s mout, Dozy Joe who makes some appeal having slipped down the weights and is on offer at an EW value best 8/1 available with Skybet but may find this one too early.
