King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes….

Paul Hanagan is expected to take the mount of Taghrooda in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot next Saturday.

Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum has set up a clash between two of his finest horses next weekend, with Oaks winner Taghrooda taking on our big priced Coral-Eclipse winner Mukhadram.

Hanagan has the pick of which ride to take, with trainer William Haggas, the trainer of Mukhadram, expects him to opt to remain in the saddle on Taghrooda.

Haggas said: “I’d be staggered if Paul didn’t ride Taghrooda. I don’t think he could possibly get off an Oaks winner, especially with her weight allowance.”

Haggas is also slightly nervous about the prospects of his charge taking on Taghrooda, adding: “He’s never run beyond ten furlongs, but he’s not a keen or silly horse and he might be even better for the trip.

Angus Gold – (Racing manager) came to see me last week and told me that plans for Taghrooda had changed.”

Eagle Top was the big market mover yesterday after being supplemented to the race at a cost of £75,000.
