King George Weekend at Ascot
Friday brings a preview of the King George weekend at Ascot and the feature race, the Qipco King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
We’ve also a couple of highlighted ‘notebookers’ going…..yesterday we had two out that we commented about on our FACEBOOK LINKS, we said we were leaving alone due to the small field sizes and a big ask to finish second to get into the EW money slot.
However, we’ve had plenty of you emailing us and rubbing our noses in it as WORDISMYBOND and TIGHT FIT duly obliged at 14/1 and 11/2 for a nice 8/1 EW double!
Today, we’ve also got that new assist in today’s racing, a PREMIUM TIMEFORM racecard for the 15.20…. JOHN GUEST BROWN JACK STAKES (HANDICAP) at Ascot you can get that card…….HERE
King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes Preview….
We discussed Paul Hanagan’s chances on Tuesday with him finally opting for the mount of Taghrooda. John Gosden’s filly had been odds-on for last Saturday’s Irish Oaks, but will now take her chance in the big race tomorrow.
Ante-post backers for last Saturday’s race have been stung and for those piling in again, she will need to improve despite three easy wins to date, but receives the weight allowance from the older colts as she bids to do so.
We’d love it for our Coral-Eclipse winner Mukhadram (pictured) to go and stuff them again……despite William Haggas’s charge lacking market appeal….. yet again, he is reliable but unproven at 12f, however at 12/1 must be worth some small each way investment?
Gosden has multiple entries here and Eagle Top has been progressive in three starts to date this season and will need to maintain that progression to go close.
Telescope cannot be discounted with two victories over the trip, including one here in Hardwicke. However, those who finished behind him that day have all been exposed and his place at the top of the market looks poor value.
Aidan O’Brien’s Magician has not been ‘at the races’ this season but 12f may prove his optimum trip and cannot be discounted, whilst Noble Mission has had plenty of attempts at 12f and we can’t see him having the class to see of these rivals.
Betting….
- Telescope – best 2/1 with bet365
- Tahgrooda – best ew 5/2 with SkyBet
- Magician – best 11/2 with Bet Victor
Our value selections…..
Eagle Top – best ew 8/1 with BetButler
Mukhadram – best ew 10/1 with BetButler
Today’s Racing…..
A couple of interesting notebookers going, so let’s review their chances….
17.35 Newmarket……PANETTONE goes for Roger Varian and we put a disappointing last race behind her. Run at Brighton’s quirky switch back last time out at 12f, the revert back to 10f should be to her suiting and good EW value 7/1 with SkyBet
20.00 York…..Equity Risk has run well here off this rating and has sound each way claims at a monster 20/1 with SkyBet but we prefer Anne Duffield’s RED CHARMER. With 2 from 5 at the trip and proven on the going, plus the trainer bang in form looks good each way value at a best 12/1 with Bet Victor.
