Lanzarote Hurdle Preview 2016

Saturday sees the Listed Class One Lanzarote Hurdle from Kempton……we feature this as our fourth big race preview of the NH season.

We have had two successes in those to date with the Betfair Chase, where we landed the winner with CUE CARD and the Tingle Creek where we landed with SIRE DU GRUGY.

Last time out we had an unplaced run in The Long Walk Hurdle from Saphir Du Rheu (who won this incidentally in 2014)

It’s an eleven runner so a chance for some  each-way value with the favouritel likely to off around the ‘wipes yer face’ 4/1 each-way price.

If we can find a bookie offer for that we’ll publish that later……….

The Lanzarote Hurdle was upgraded to a listed Class 1 in 2013 and has become the target of ‘young upwardly mobile’ horses’ and the current betting forecast highlights that……

Paul Nicholls runs half-brother to Saphir du Rheu……..Ibis du Rheu lightly raced he looked at ease when running in a tongue strap on seasonal re-appearance at Newbury. He should improve over this longer trip but he doesn’t look to be well in with the likes of Dell’Arca and Bivouac.

Unowhatimeanharry is one who has come on for the switch to Harry Fry coming in to this on a four-timer. He loves the forecast……Soft/Heavy going and should be on the premises again with the improvement expected at around those 9/2…5/1 expected odds.

Philip Hobbs has given us some nice wins, especially last weekend with Bold Henry. He has had the runner-up twice in this over the last four years and Brother Tedd gives him a chance here….he looks to have it all to do off  top weight and 9 lb higher than his last win.

Dr Richard Newland spent £42,000 acquiring Westren Warrior who has run three decent races for him since culminating with a LTO 30-length success in a novice at Lingfield. He is another with stamina in abundance like Unowhatimeanharry.

Baron Alco hasn’t had to improve so much as most who complete a handicap hat-trick but he still keeps doing enough, winning by less than a length from Simply A Legend over C&D on Boxing Day, and even another 7 lb rise may not prevent him running another decent race.

We mentioned at the top of the post BIVOUAC who was in good form last term. He looks to be back on track when winning over the extended 19f at Huntingdon in November by a length from Ruacana and up just 7 lb he looks the type to progress over this longer trip……..Noel Fehily is his usual jock and should have him somewhere near in this.

Suggested bet….

BIVOUAC each-way at 5/1 in the Long Walk Hurdle
