Latest Golf News…..Justin Rose says that victory at The National at Congressional is a massive boost ahead of the Open Championship at Royal Liverpool next month.
Rose took the honours at the first play-off hole, having seemed to have thrown his victory chances away by finding water on the final hole.
It’s a really nice time of year to have a victory and allows me to focus on exciting challenges now ahead.

However, Shawn Stefani followed Rose into the drink when the two men played the 18th again in a play-off, leaving the Englishman to celebrate a first win since his US Open triumph last year.
And Rose believes that he has given himself a huge tonic as he starts to prepare for Hoylake, with Open getting underway on Thursday 17th July.
He told the PGA Tour website: “It’s a huge boost confidence-wise for sure. I haven’t really been playing with a lead all year.
“To do it and get it done and make key putts, that’s huge for my psyche going into a major championship.
“And obviously for the rest of the year, it gives me a nice boost – a nice boost into the FedEx Cup as the play-offs are upon us, a nice boost (for) Ryder Cup points, probably takes that off my mind.
“So yeah, it’s a really nice time of year to have a victory and allows me to focus on exciting challenges now ahead.”
Rose, whose best finish at the Open was a tie for fourth as an amateur in 1998.
Graeme McDowell is aiming to enjoy a fine summer and ensure his place in the European Ryder Cup team to take on the USA at Gleneagles in late September.
The Northern Irishman has featured in each of the last three Ryder Cup matches, clinching the crucial point in 2010 which won back the trophy at Celtic Manor.
The American side is extremely strong, our side is going to be extremely strong and I want to be there.

And McDowell is eager to make it four in a row at Gleneagles, but is aware that he needs to show good form in the next couple of months, starting with his title defence at the Open de France.
McDowell told the European Tour website: “The Ryder Cup, it’s always a goal of mine, to be part of the team.
“It’s going to be a very highly-contested team. The American side is extremely strong, our side is going to be extremely strong and I want to be there.
“It’s just one of those things that will take care of itself. If I perform, prepare as well as I possibly can this summer, let some good golf get in the way and the Ryder Cup hopefully will take care of itself.
“It’s not something that I’m going to be thinking about every day, but hopefully with a big effort this summer, I should be able to get myself onto that team.”
