Long Walk Hurdle Preview 2015

Saphir-Du-Rheu

Saturday sees the  Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot and we feature this as our third big race preview of the NH season and hope to replicate our two successes following the Betfair Chase, where we landed the winner in our feature with CUE CARD and the Tingle Creek where we landed with SIRE DU GRUGY.

It’s already a 9 runner so we need to get in early so let’s have a look at the chief contenders…….

Rev de Sivola is a three times winner of this  beating the likes of Smad Place, Fishers Cross and Zarkandar in doing so in the last two renewals.

When analysing his previous wins he has shown up better in small fields rather than the big Cheltenham affairs so warrants respect if there are any more withdrawals.

We noted in our Saturday newsletter a couple of weeks back one who we were watching in Thistlecrack who put up a really impressive performance to land the long Distance Handicap at Newbury.

He has been on our radar since Aintree last year since his run in the Sefton Hurdle and has flourished since stepped up to three miles when a big-price winner of the Sefton Novices’ Hurdle at Aintree last season, and hasn’t looked back since.

Though winning in impressive style, it just niggles about the runs of Cole Harden and Whisper in the Long Walk field and just maybe it wasn’t a true run to form race?

We think he will be one to follow ( yes we know….we missed the 4/1 in the Long Distance!!) this winter but will sidestep him again in this, as we will overlook Deputy Dan who followed him home that day.

He’s another for the notebook through the winter but looks to have something to find here….which leads us to our selection (pictured)….SAPHIR DU RHEU.

Saphir du Rheu has been reverted back to the small stuff by Paul Nichols with the chasers being a hot bunch this season with the likes of Don Cossack to contend with.

LTO he was beaten in the Hennessy…..after that most impressive run by Smad Place but back in this class under testing conditions should pose few problems in this/

In anticipation of a good performance here maybe worth a small each-way nibble now about him in the World Hurdle for the Cheltenham festival where he is already as short as 10’s

17.12.15 long walk hurdle

Suggested bet….

Saphir Du Rheu WIN ONLY at 2/1 in the Long Walk Hurdle
