Man City v Arsenal: Premier League Preview
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has insisted he will not be using the club’s hectic schedule as an excuse ahead of their Premier League with Manchester City on Saturday.
The league leaders head to the Etihad Stadium for a lunch time kick-off having sustained a 2-0 defeat away at Napoli on Wednesday, which still secured the club’s place in the knockout stages of the Champions League.
With City playing their European tie on the Tuesday, the home side have had 24 hours longer to prepare for their encounter with the Gunners this weekend.
However Wenger has admitted the schedule will be tough on his players but won’t be using the quick turnaround as an excuse.
He said: “I think we have an opportunity to make the difference by playing first tomorrow.
“I don’t complain about the timing of the fixtures, we don’t use it as an excuse.
“When you play Wednesday night and Saturday morning you cannot do a lot in training. It’s mostly recovery.”
Man City are 5/6 to win, 29/10 to draw and 7/2 to lose to Arsenal on Saturday and 13/5 to open the scoring.
Manchester City’s attacking players have been ordered to become even more clinical when they face Arsenal on Saturday.
That’s the edict from Blues boss Manuel Pellegrini, who believes his free-scoring side are still not playing to their absolute potential.
Most observers would argue the Chilean is being hyper-critical with his team having scored an incredible 41 goals from their opening 15 games, and they can be backed at 10/1 to beat Arsenal 2-0 on Saturday lunchtime.
But Pellegrini was also in charge of a Real Madrid side which could boast the lethal attacking prowess of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Gonzalo Higuain, Kaka and Raul.
We’re having ten attacks and scoring five so we can continue to score more.

And he sees no reason why the likes of Sergio Aguero, 7/2 to open the scoring against the Gunners, Alvaro Negredo, Edin Dzeko, David Silva, Samir Nasri and Yaya Toure cannot become even more ruthless.
Pellegrini insists: “When I was at Real Madrid we had some important attacking players and this season we’re scoring a lot of goals and missing a lot of chances as well.
“It’s not that we have five attacks and score five times. We’re having ten attacks and scoring five so we can continue to score more.”
Pellegrini has a full squad of players to choose from against the current Premier League leaders. City can cut the deficit to just three points with a victory over Arsene Wenger’s team and are currently 7/4 to win the Premier League title outright this season.
