Manchester City v Liverpool: August 2014

Manchester City v Liverpool Premier League

Tonight it’s Premier League – Manchester City v Liverpool from  the Etihad Stadium, Manchester. We give our view on the outcome plus a great in-play offer……..

It was a famous 3-2 victory for Liverpool in the last encounter of these two sides which everyone thought was going to push the title towards Anfield nearing the completion of Premier League season.

Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo is unlikely to feature but strikers Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic look set to continue up front with Sergio Aguero not yet fit enough for a full 90 minutes.

French defender Eliaquim Mangala isn’t fit enough yet to be involved following his £32m move from Porto.

Liverpool could give Serbian midfielder Lazar Markovic his debut after he recovered from a hamstring injury.

Defender Alberto Moreno could also make his first start but the match comes too soon for fellow new boy Adam Lallana.

Liverpool have a host of injury concerns which include Daniel Agger, Oussama Assaidi , Jon Flanagan and Adam Lallana.

Champions Manchester City enter this season as one of the favourites behind Chelsea to retain their title, with their squad remaining basically the same as.

Liverpool went so close last year but the squad has only been marginally strengthened since the loss of striker Louis Suarez to Barcelona.

Suggested Bets…..

Both teams to score (BTTS – YES) looks value at 1.6 – both teams have begun where they left off last season and scored twice in their opening games.

In five of the last six meetings between the two teams, both have scored, with last seasons two matches yielding 8 goals.

Despite losing to Arsenal in the Community Shield, we feel that Manchester City are the favourites here and will back them at 5/6 at bet365.
