A previous winner at the Cheltenham Festival when landing the Champion Bumper in 2011, CHELTENIAN is considered by Philip Hobbs to be his best chance from his team for the meeting this year.
The lightly-raced eight-year-old has only had four starts over hurdles since winning the Champion Bumper, and demonstrated he still retains plenty of ability when fourth to Splash Of Ginge in the Betfair Hurdle last time out.
Although entered again for the Sky Bet Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, in which he was tenth last year, the Grade 3 Vincent O’Brien County Handicap Hurdle is Cheltenian’s target, for which he is a best-priced 16/1
It was confirmed last night that ANNIE POWER will take on four-time Ladbrokes World Hurdle champion BIG BUCK’S at Cheltenham in 11 days’ time, when she will be ridden by Ruby Walsh, who rode Big Buck’s to all of his festival victories.
Annie Power skips the Stan James Champion Hurdle and the OLBG Mares’ Hurdle, but trainer Willie Mullins said on Sunday connections had decided to bid for the staying hurdlers’ crown.
Speaking after racing at Leopardstown on Sunday, Mullins said: “All things remaining well with the horses, this is where things stand. Ruby will ride Annie Power in the World Hurdle. I’ve spoken with the owners and they are happy with that plan.

Kempton 17.15…..Those drawn low have a distinct advantage in the sprints so we’ll take CLEAR PRAISE from trap 1 to dominate proceedings despite Seb Sanders poor record here. A best priced EW 8/1 with Bet Victor. One of interest for the future will be the former Irish horse Bainne who arrives here with just one run under his belt. Drawn poorly here it will be a chance to review his performance for subsequent events and hopefull land a nice EW touch. Those taking a chance today can get around 20/1
