Today’s Nottingham Timeform….
1.10 Wedgewood Estates EBF Stallions Maiden Stakes (4) (D.I) 7f
Timeform Top Rated:
80P 4. CITY OF JOY Sir Michael Stoute Ryan Moore
79p 10. SWISS STORM David Elsworth Jim Crowley
78 6. KOEMAN Mick Channon George Baker
Analyst’s Verdict:
Racing Post Trophy entrant City of Joy was a big eyecatcher on last month’s Sandown debut and can leave that bare form behind and strike at the second time of asking under Ryan Moore. The Frankel newcomer Alfawaris is a likely type on paper, while the fact Swiss Storm went off at short odds on his debut suggests he could easily prove a different proposition at the second time of asking.
1.45 Dubai Duty Free Legacy Cup Stakes (Group 3) (1) 1m3f5y
Timeform Top Rated:
131 1. DARTMOUTH Sir Michael Stoute Ryan Moore
130 4. THE GREY GATSBY Kevin Ryan Non Runner
126 2. AYRAD Roger Charlton Andrea Atzeni
Analyst’s Verdict:
Dartmouth has taken his form to a new level this season and wasn’t seen to best effect compared to the winner in the King George at Ascot, so he’s expected to get back on track down in grade despite having to shoulder a 5 Ib penalty. 3-y-os Algometer and Robin of Navan are both soft-ground winners and are interesting.
2.15 Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes (Group 2) (1) 6f8y
Timeform Top Rated:
122p 6. MOKARRIS Simon Crisford Non Runner
119 4. LEGENDARY LUNCH Richard Hannon Ryan Moore
117 1. GLOBAL APPLAUSE Ed Dunlop George Baker
Analyst’s Verdict:
Legendary Lunch resumed his progress when an excellent second in the Flying Childers at Doncaster last week, suggesting a return to this trip would suit, and a reproduction of that form will see him go close. Both Harry Angel and Perfect Angel have something to find on ratings, but given their lightly-raced profiles, it would be folly to think they are not up to the task.
2.50 Dubai Duty Free Handicap (2) 1¼m6y
Timeform Top Rated:
120p 19. MUZDAWAJ William Haggas Paul Hanagan
118p 10. BAYDAR Hugo Palmer Josephine Gordon (3)
117 11. LORD BEN STACK K. R. Burke Clifford Lee (7)
Analyst’s Verdict:
The winning margins of Baydar‘s last 2 victories underplay his progress, though they are helping him keep ahead of the handicapper, and he is just preferred to the other equally-progressive 3-y-os Muzdawaj and Autocratic having fared better with the draw. Scarlet Dragon and Lord Ben Stack make up the shortlist.
3.25 Dubai International Airport World Trophy Stakes (Group 3) (1) 5f34y
Timeform Top Rated:
134 4. GOLDREAM Robert Cowell Martin Harley
132 7. RIDGE RANGER Eric Alston Jason Hart
131 6. MUTHMIR William Haggas Non Runner
Analyst’s Verdict:
Goldream looks sure to get a good lead into this with the abundance of pace on show and he is taken to show his class in the closing stages. Boom The Groom is in the form of his life and is well up to making his mark at pattern level, while Ridge Ranger should go well as usual.
4.00 Dubai Duty Free Nursery Handicap (3) 7f
Timeform Top Rated:
105 3. NOVOMAN William Haggas Georgia Cox (5)
104 1. FINAL RECKONING Charlie Appleby Adam Kirby
103p 6. BLUSHING ROSE Sir Michael Stoute Andrea Atzeni
Analyst’s Verdict:
A nursery bound to throw up plenty of winners, with Novoman just about the pick at the weights on his excellent runner-up effort at Yarmouth (has since landed the odds at Brighton). The Group 1 entered colt Final Reckoning, Graphite Storm and Blushing Rose are just a trio of potential dangers.
4.35 Heatherwold Stud Handicap (4) 7f
Timeform Top Rated:
100p 1. AFLAME Sir Michael Stoute Ryan Moore
98p 11. WILD DANCER Patrick Chamings Daniel Muscutt
97 16. IN HASTE Eve Johnson Houghton Edward Greatrex (3)
Analyst’s Verdict:
Probably not as competitive as the field size suggests, with Aflame rather standing out as an upwardly-mobile filly who is likely still a step ahead of the assessor in her hat-trick bid. Wild Dancer’s debut form shouldn’t be forgotten yet, so she remains with potential, while Jan Steen should get a stronger pace to aim at this time.
5.05 Wedgewood Estates EBF Stallions Maiden Stakes (4) (D.II) 7f
Timeform Top Rated:
80p 11. WARRIOR’S SPIRIT Richard Hannon Pat Dobbs
79p 12. TWENTY TIMES Richard Hughes Shane Kelly
78 8. ON TO VICTORY Eve Johnson Houghton Tom Marquand
Analyst’s Verdict:
A chance this will be dominated by newcomers. Crystal Ocean‘s Dewhurst entry suggests he’s been showing all the right signs at home and he gets the vote for the Stoute/Moore combination. Mafaaheem, Earthly and Emmaus are others who make appeal on paper in a race where the market is likely to be informative.
