One of our old sprint favourites, SOLE POWER goes tomorrow in Dubai in the Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan.
Sole Power is in Dubai for the World Cup carnival for the fifth successive year but has yet to get his head in front in eight career starts at Meydan.
He has filled the runner-up spot on three occasions but finished down the field when making his first start of the year at the track earlier this month.
However, Co Meath-based trainer trainer Ed Lynam says the eight-year-old is in good form ahead of the Al Quoz Sprint, for which he is an 7/1 chance.
Champion jockey Richard Hughes will be in the saddle and Lynam says it will be back to Britain for some of the key sprinting contests this summer.
I’m glad to have Richard Hughes and he’ll have an English campaign this year.
“I was a bit disappointed with his last run. He’s in good heart now though and I’m very hopeful of a good run,” Ed Lynam
Following his trip to Dubai last March, Sole Power returned to the UK for a sparkling summer hat-trick.
He landed a Group Three at Newmarket with Ryan Moore in the plate in May before showing his class to quicken away from the field and win the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot in June with Hughes back on board.
He made it three from three in the Nunthorpe at York before going on to meet his only British defeat of 2014 at Haydock where the step up to 6f proved too much for him.
