No More Heroes impresses
Our notebooker No More Heroes was impressive at Navan on Sunday and Gordon Elliott’s charge looks each-way value for the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham.
Winning rider Barry Geraghty praised the resolve No More Heroes showed in seeing off the heavily fancied Shaneshill to land the Grade Two novice hurdle.
Shaneshill won the Champion Bumper at Punchestown last April and having kicked off his career over hurdles with a straightforward win at Fairyhouse he was expected to put an end to No More Heroes three-race winning sequence.
Despite being headed between the final two flights, Geraghty galvanised his mount to score by a cosy length-and-three-quarters at the line.
“He showed plenty of courage to see off Shaneshill over two and a half miles. It’s a tough climb to the line at Navan on soft ground and we got that lead back quick enough and he handled the conditions well,” Geraghty wrote.
Owned by the powerful Gigginstown House Stud, Geraghty says connections know exactly what they have got on their hands.
He added: “Gordon Elliott knows what he’s got and is already thinking about the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle over three miles at Cheltenham.”
The Navan success maintained No More Heroes unbeaten record over hurdles after he also landed his maiden at Punchestown last month over 2m 6f – a trip he has yet to race beyond.
No More Heroes can be backed ante-post at 8/1 with bet 365 in the win and each way market for the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle, while Vigil can be backed at 18/1 with Bet Victor
