Notebookers going today
Yesterday saw has have another couple of ‘notebookers’ WORDISMYBOND and CLASSY ANNE give us a nice profit on the day with just 3 runners after BLACK SCHNAPPS going a non-runner.
SHAOLIN didn’t really give us a run for our money at Goodwood but was always a big each way hope at the 40’s and 50’s that were taken on him. Still it’s been a fantastic week with our 160/1 winning double from Tuesday’s two advices.
We’ve had plenty of thank you’s for that one with numerous postings of winning betting slips appearing in the social media arena. Thanks for that, it always helps to build the ABW community, when FACEBOOK frowns on any sites promoting gambling.
It’s also good to know you stick with us when some frown about betting on anything 8/1 and above, they seem perfectly happy backing between evens and 3/1 and think if they have a 30{70aeb3532cb26dbe277d25ea128ebb74de84b9bd22e1583b0eb1b73768e061f6} strike rate they are ‘booming’….we doubt their betting bank balance says the same?
Value is key, we know now from your comments that you are prepared to suffer the off losing run of 4 or 5 (there hasn’t been many of those when we cover each way) when you know that long term profits will be generate.
Today’s Racing……
We’ve got our PREMIUM TIMEFORM RACECARD…..for an assist in today’s racing, for the 15.05 Queesferry Stakes at Chester, you can get that card…….HERE
Just the one going today from our early season notebook and that’s GRAPHENE in the 17.25 at Newbury.
Trying 12f for the third time she is on her favoured ‘cut in the ground’ going and has young sensation Cam Hardie up top fresh after his Stewards Cup win yesterday at Goodwood…..looks like he’s going to have a big future. Anyone looking for an ante-post price on a future champion jock?
Rod Millman’s charge was an easy Bath winner on this surface and young Hardie gave him a good ride when attempting 12f at Newbury back in June. Booked again today he looks to have each way value at a best 12/1 with Skybet.
Other racing……
We’ve nothing else going today, but if anyone ever wondered where our name came from, it was from the book ‘Always Back Winners’ by Stewart Simpson…..well worth a read and with some very relevant points.
One of his main purports was backing top weight (class) animals in handicaps on turning courses, if they had won over C&D before it was a big plus?
The theory being that such ‘tight turning tracks’ do not allow the lighter weighted horses to get away as they cannot exploit their low weight advantage around a sharp turn. Consequently it comes down to short straight finish and the weight advantage has been negated?
Chester is one of those….so if we look at today’s meeting, let’s have a look at some of those potential qualifiers and see how they fair today:
Chester 15.40…..Alejandro, Chosen Character, Deauville Prince and Clockmaker top the handicap with Chosen Character and Clockmaker being those with C&D form. The first three all have a favoured low draw and with Richard Kingscote opting for Deauville Prince you would think it’s a straight choice between him and David O’Meara’s Alejandro?
Chester 16.45…..only a few going here with the in-form Mark Johnston’s charge Notarised off bottom rung going off favourite. Let’s see if class at the top end can beat the form horse off a low weight?
Chester 17.15…..the top weight and class horse Empress Ali is the short priced favourite and shouldn’t really be opposed but at 6/4 it’s not something we really like to take on?
