The Paddy Power Gold Cup latest

Yesterday we discussed Finian’s Rainbow participation (14/1 with the sponsors Paddy Power) in tomorrows Paddy Power Gold Cup.

The meeting is Cheltenham’s biggest outside of the Festival and the top trainers will have a squad ready for this meeting and we will start to see a pecking order develop of where we are for the season in terms of novices.

So far, Nicholls and Henderson our top trainers have had a quiet start but will be looking to asert their authority on the season this weekend.

Nicholls is in a season of change with many transition with many injuries and his old guard put out to grass. However, he still has a broadbased team and he may well be primed for the weekend. Henderson will also be keen to bet some winners before he starts sending his big guns out.

Jonjo O’Neil and AP have been the success story to date and holds the favourite for the feature race race The Paddy Power Gold Cup in Johns Spirit currently a best priced 13/2 with the sponsors – Paddy Power.

He was impressive when winning here recently and this is a significant step up in class but this represents a major step up in grade and he has tended to put himself out of contention with his first few leaps in the past.

Taking that EW price is hoping he’s grown out of that habit and so we will look elsewhere. Champion Court remains on a winning mark, being just 2lb higher than when beating Menorah last April and we think that form is sound to book an EW berth at a best priced 13/2 with the sponsors – Paddy Power.

We’ve not had much success on the flat this week and yesterday was no exception. However our only jump selection of the week QUESTIONS ANSWERED did the business at 7/4…advised at 11/4 yesterday morning.

Lingfield 13.35…..DEGLET NOOR is the selection from Roger Varian’s yard. Impressive at Kempton, came unstuck in the mud last time out at Newmarket. He’s up against some high mileage individuals here and our selection is open to improvement at a best priced EW saver 4/1 with BetButler

Lingfield 15.05.….A short priced selection here in Kempton maiden winner LEONARD THOMAS. He makes his hndicap debut and will be suited by this step up to 1m….a best priced 9/4 with Bet Victor

Wolverhampton 19.00.… we look for some EW value and go with COME ON BLUE CHIP. Though not in the best form, he is the one with proven AWT pedigree having 3 wins on the course and two at the distance …. a best priced EW saver at 11/2 with Betfred
