 Cheltenham Thistlecrack

14.10 Pertemps Network Final (Listed Handicap Hurdle) 2m 7f 213y;5yo+, 2m 7f 213y, Class 1

At last….a race in which Irish trained horses do not traditionally do well in.

Let’s check the stats and trends for this one….

  • Primarily 6 – 8 yr olds
  • Finished top 4 LTO
  • Ran 6-10 times over hurdles
  • 7 or fewer season runs, more than that have a poor record
  • 1-5 hurdle wins
  • Rated 138-148
  • 1-3 handicap wins

Preview……..

Taglietelle did well to get as close as he did at Musselburgh LTO after blundering and notably, Gordon Elliott’s horse showed battling qualities to beat the Call The Cops last year at Aintree on this type of going. He just sits out of the 138-148 though Jack Kennedy brings that down a tad, though we will pass over in favour of a couple of others with value here.

SADDLERS ENCORE is a tentative one with no previous course experience but was impressive when winning the Heroes Handicap Hurdle at Sandown.

He beat some notables that day in Yala Enki and  Join The Clan in what was a fast time and also holds a win over Southfield Vic in his locker.

Off track for a while, he remains lightly-raced and a progressive stayer on this going. If handling the course we expect a big run at a nice each-way price.

Another near the head of the market with sound each-way claims is CUP FINAL for last yeas winning trainer, Nicky Henderson. He’s another like the previous mention who has had time out through injury and has previous here in November 2014.

He’s a hold up type and provide he gets a little pace form the likes of Flytham should be in the mix at the finish.
