2.10 Racing To School Handicap Hurdle (4) 2m47y
Timeform Top Rated:
135 5. JET MASTER N. W. Alexander Lucy Alexander
129p 1. MOONDAY SUN Nigel Twiston-Davies Sam Twiston-Davies
127 2. CARINENA Nicky Richards Craig Nichol
Analyst’s Verdict:
Moonday Sun is clearly going the right way, and with further improvement in the pipeline, the hat-trick is very much on the cards. Jet Master was below form when last seen over fences in June, but he is on a tempting mark reverted back to hurdles, while Buonarotti Boy looks the pick of Gordon Elliott’s runners.
2.45 Anderson Anderson & Brown Handicap Chase (4) 2½m20y
Timeform Top Rated:
128? 2. FOXTAIL HILL Nigel Twiston-Davies Sam Twiston-Davies
126 4. WHATS UP WOODY George Bewley Jonathon Bewley (5)
125 3. GLEANN NA NDOCHAIS Alistair Whillans Craig Nichol
Analyst’s Verdict:
Three last-time-out winners line up but it could be worth chancing Foxtail Hill, who’s well handicapped on hurdles form and hails from a red-hot yard. Whats Up Woody is feared most ahead of Bright Prospect.
3.20 Racing Post Readers Award Novices’ Hurdle (4) 2m47y
Timeform Top Rated:
138p 3. WAKEA Karl Thornton Mr J. C. Barry (5)
128 2. LILY YEATS Shane Crawley C. D. Timmons (5)
125 1. LAKE MALAWI Gordon Elliott Richard Johnson
Analyst’s Verdict:
Moon Racer and Ballyandy bring high-class bumper form to the table, and are very much the pair to focus on, the former narrowly preferred ahead of his eagerly anticipated hurdles bow. The latter is not dismissed lightly, though, whilst Wakea is another good prospect going forward.
3.50 Sean Dillon Testimonial Handicap Hurdle (4) 2½m35y
Timeform Top Rated:
121 7. CANNY TOM Gordon Elliott Keith Donoghue
120§ 1. GOLD CHAIN Dianne Sayer Harry Challoner
119 12. CRUACHAN Lucy Normile Adam Nicol
Analyst’s Verdict:
Canny Tom was arguably going best until a bad mistake 2 out at Downpatrick last month, a performance which marks him out as a very interesting candidate representing the leading trainer at the track. Green Zone arrives here at the very top of his game, while Fred Le Macon deserves a mention as an unpenalised last-time-out winner.
4.25 Timothy Hardie Jewellers Novices’ Chase (3) 2½m20y
Timeform Top Rated:
145p 7. IMPULSIVE AMERICAN David Pipe Tom Scudamore
144+ 8. REJAAH Nigel Hawke Aidan Coleman
140p 6. WESTERN HOME Gordon Elliott Keith Donoghue
Analyst’s Verdict:
A useful novice chase that should throw up horses to follow, with Imperial Cup winner Flying Angel taken to make a successful debut over fences and give Nigel Twiston-Davies a fourth win in this contest since 2010. There is more to come from Impulsive American, while Worcester-winner Rejaah gets plenty of weight from her rivals again.
5.00 Isle of Skye Season Awards Novices’ Hurdle (4) 2m7f207y
Timeform Top Rated:
138 5. WHAT A MOMENT David Pipe Tom Scudamore
131 1. ROUND TOWER Karl Thornton Mr J. C. Barry (5)
124 3. MISFITS Lucinda Russell Derek Fox
Analyst’s Verdict:
Not a strong event and probably a good opportunity for What A Moment to open his account in this sphere starting out a new campaign. Ballymalin looks a staying jumper in the making and has to be respected.
5.30 2016 Season Finale Standard Open National Hunt Flat (6) 2m47y
Timeform Top Rated:
105 8. JOANS TART Gordon Elliott Henry Brooke
104 4. KATALYSTIC Lucinda Russell Harry Reed (7)
86 2. HIGHLAND PEAK Jackie Stephen Tony Kelly
Analyst’s Verdict:
The market should help sort these out but it’d be no surprise if Benny The Mixer ran well for his talented trainer. Katalystic and Lost Frequency are others to consider.
