2.20 Racing Through Life By Sam Morshead Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle (4) 2½m35y
Timeform Top Rated:
121 1. LILY YEATS Shane Crawley C. D. Timmons (5)
118p 3. OUR CAT Fergal O’Brien Alain Cawley
113 2. LUCY MC Gordon Elliott Richard Johnson
Analyst’s Verdict:
Our Cat’s chasing form makes her a cut above her rivals and, based on the way she won over C&D last time, there’s no reason why she can’t prove just as good over the smaller obstacles. She’ll be tough to beat if on her game, but last-time-out winner Lily Yeats and hurdling-debutante Only Orvieto are interesting in their own right.
2.55 Weatherbys Private Bank Novices’ Handicap Chase (4) 2m
Timeform Top Rated:
117§ 2. SWORD OF THE LORD Nigel Twiston-Davies Jamie Bargary (5)
Analyst’s Verdict:
Northandsouth is lightly raced and possesses a good deal of scope, so he is taken to build on his career-best hurdle success back in the spring with his attentions now switched to chasing. Crown Hill got back on track over hurdles at Worcester fitted with a hood latest and he is feared, along with Orchard Road.
3.30 PKAVS Claiming Hurdle (4) 2m47y
Timeform Top Rated:
134 4. NO WIN NO FEE Dr Richard Newland Sam Twiston-Davies
122 1. MARCUS ANTONIUS Lucinda Russell Blair Campbell (7)
121 6. CLAUDE CARTER Alistair Whillans Mr Gary Beaumont (7)
Analyst’s Verdict:
No Win No Fee sets a clear standard in this company and is the type to bounce back from a rare poor effort last time. Marcus Antonius and Shan Dun Na Ngall look best of the others.
4.05 Lord Mansfield Memorial Handicap Chase (3) 2m7f180y
Timeform Top Rated:
144 2. KILRONAN HIGH Nigel Twiston-Davies Sam Twiston-Davies
143 7. TANGOLAN Fergal O’Brien Paddy Brennan
142 1. ALDERBROOK LAD Micky Hammond Finian O’Toole (5)
Analyst’s Verdict:
Competitive stuff but it may be worth chancing Kilronan High, who is potentially on a good mark and hails from a yard in cracking form ahead of her return. Kilbree Kid and Western Home head the dangers.
4.40 Weatherbys Private Bank Handicap Hurdle (3) 2m7f207y
Timeform Top Rated:
147 3. SUN CLOUD Malcolm Jefferson Brian Hughes
146§ 10. GOLD CHAIN Dianne Sayer Harry Challoner
145 7. CASTLETOWN BRIDGE Paul Stafford A. W. Short (7)
Analyst’s Verdict:
Sun Cloud is better known as a useful staying chaser, and there’s a chance he will use this run as a platform for another campaign over fences, but he’s been given a real chance by the assessor, so is well worth siding with. Frontier Vic chases a hat-trick and is an obvious threat, with Landecker a player too if on his best behaviour.
5.15 Gammies Country Clothing Juvenile Hurdle (4) 2m47y
Timeform Top Rated:
121 1. MILROW Dr Richard Newland Sam Twiston-Davies
120 9. TRESPASSED Gordon Elliott Richard Johnson
117 4. FOUR MILE BEACH Malcolm Jefferson Brian Hughes
Analyst’s Verdict:
Milrow has seemingly reached his level for the time being, but a repeat of the pick of his efforts may well be good enough in a pretty ordinary juvenile hurdle. Trespassed needs to dispel a lesser effort over C&D but his previous exploits give him claims, whilst hurdles-debutant L’Apogee wouldn’t need to be any great shakes to get involved either.
5.45 Weatherbys Private Bank Handicap Chase (4) 2m7f180y
Timeform Top Rated:
122p 6. MAD MONEY Tim Vaughan Richard Johnson
118 7. SHAIYZAR David Thompson Henry Brooke
116§ 8. NO SUCH NUMBER Sandy Forster Jamie Hamilton (3)
Analyst’s Verdict:
A chance is taken on Queens Bay despite her inauspicious start for Neil Mulholland, the fact that she’s had a break since then suggesting there was some sort of issue. She’s well worth another opportunity to improve and get the better of emphatic last-time-out winner Mad Money and the potentially well-treated Shaiyzar.
