Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass
Masters champion Bubba Watson has played down his chances of becoming world number one by impressing at the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass.

Bubba Watson’s best finish at the ‘fifth major’ is a tie for 37th place last year and the left-hander, 35/1 to win the tournament, accepts that the course does not suit his creative long hitting style.
I haven’t played very well around here.

He told reporters: “Around this golf course it’s very challenging for me and when I look down holes like the first and the 10th, it’s hard to tell the difference between the fairway and the rough.
“I haven’t played very well around here. I was looking at my record at Sawgrass before I came – three missed cuts, a 50-something place and two 30-somethings.
“My best finish here is 37th – just write that down – 37th, so unless 37th moves me to No. 1 we probably don’t need to worry about that.”
Along with Watson, Adam Scott, Henrik Stenson and Matt Kuchar could all surpass Tigers Woods as world number one after TPC Sawgrass.
Scott only needs to finish inside the top 16 to top the rankings, while Stenson and Kuchar have the confidence boost of knowing that they have won the tournament in the past.
Swede Stenson triumphed in 2009, finishing four shots clear of the field, while Kuchar tasted victory in 2012, securing victory by two shots.
Kuchar can be backed at 18/1 to win the Players Championship this year, with Stenson 25/1 and Scott 16/1.
