Race to Dubai – McDowell sits Turkey out

The battle for the Race to Dubai title heads to Turkey this week, with one of the leading contenders opting to sit out the penultimate tournament of the season.
Graeme McDowell is currently second in the standings going into the season finale, but, having closed the gap to leader Henrik Stenson to 145,865 euros with a strong showing at the HSBC-Champions, the Northern Irishman will take a break.
As long as Henrik doesn’t do anything too special in Turkey, I’ll have a good shot going into Dubai.

Stenson, Ian Poulter, Justin Rose and world number one Tiger Woods will all be among the field in Turkey, but both McDowell and compatriot Rory McIlroy have opted to take a watching brief.
And McDowell hopes that that will prove to be a wise decision, as he said: “I’ll be fresh. I’ll be ready in Dubai whatever happens.
“This is what the DP World Tour Championship and the Race to Dubai is all about – having quality players with a chance to win, not only the tournament, but also the Money List and the Race to Dubai.

A 78-man field takes to the course in Antalya this week, with 60 places on offer for the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai seven days later.
Stenson can be backed at 14/1 to triumph in Turkey, with Woods 9/2, while Rose, who won the World Golf Final in Turkey in 2012, is available at 10/1.
