Racing News: 15th April 2014

Racing News: 15th April 2014 brings no selections but just a report on progress so far.

We’ve just had one outing from one of our 12 flat horses to follow with Van Percy winning at the first time of asking. We have also had one of our ‘notebook performance’  horses going which gave us a 25/1 place with Lincoln winner Ocean Tempest filling a place at the weekend.

Our next runner is due to be 17th April so we’ll keep you posted.

Other news…..

John Gosden’s Kingman unsurprisingly sprung to 2000 Guineas favouritism after a massively impressive run in the Group 3 Greenham Stakes at Newbury.

The three-year-old simply swooped over a furlong out and quickened away in the style of a horse destined for great things, with Kingman 11/10 to win the 2000 Guineas – while Kingston Hill is 9/1 and War Command can be backed at12/1.

He’s done everything we have asked of him and he’s a very good horse indeed.

And afterwards Gosden revealed that unless it comes up really fast underfoot, Kingman will take his place on the big day at Newmarket.

It was the third win of his career from three outings and followed a winter during which he underwent surgery for a chipped bone.

Gosden was thrilled with the horse – who was never off the bridle in winning what looked a hot contest.

He said: “He really couldn’t have done it any better. He was pretty impressive, but we weren’t surprised because he has been doing everything well at home.

“He has the fastest cruising speed of any horse I have ever trained and I really couldn’t be any happier with him.

“We will keep an eye on the ground because there’s no point in chancing a horse who has had that sort of surgery on fast conditions.

“But so long as it stays as it is there won’t be a problem. He settled well and when it mattered really came good.

“He’s done everything we have asked of him and he’s a very good horse indeed.”
