Another successful day with yesterday’s selections that now leaves us with 8 winning bets from just 13 selections this year…
ROCK’S FIELD duly obliged in the Punchestown 16.10 yesterday, opening at 10’s and going off at 9/1…….
A good way to start the morning, with news that this afternoon’s meeting at Ayr is on. Only 3mm of rain fell at the track overnight with another 10mm forecast this morning. The going is soft, heavy in places
Cheltenham Racing News…..
Robert Waley-Cohen has not ruled his star LONG RUN, from running in the Cheltenham Gold Cup despite believing the Grand National is a far more likely target.
Things hadn’t gone well for the nine-year-old this season until he ran out a wide distance recent winner at Kelso in a four-horse affair.
Prior to that he was beaten five times and at one stage his owner was wondering whether he really had gone over the top.
What was good at Kelso was that he learned to enjoy his racing again.
Now, however, he looks almost certain to go to Aintree for the nation’s favourite race although Waley-Cohen makes it clear that the Gold Cup isn’t a total ‘no-no.’
He said: “It’s such a strong race – the toughest of the season. They are galloping from the start and I think it would need one of the front horses in the betting to come out for us to give him a run.
“What was good at Kelso was that he learned to enjoy his racing again so we think psychologically he will be OK. The numbers in the Gold Cup wouldn’t worry me, only the quality. But I think the National will be his race this year although we are keeping our options open.”
Timmy Murphy is about to have shoulder surgery which will force him to miss next month’s Cheltenham Festival.
The 39-year-old, who won the Grand National on Comply or Die six years ago, suffered a dislocated shoulder for a second time in three months in January.
Murphy must now undergo corrective surgery on the troublesome injury, with his agent, Chris Broad, saying: “The only light at the end of the tunnel is that he is going to have an operation on the shoulder.
Murphy first dislocated the joint at Newbury in November in an incident involving fellow jockey Dominic Elsworth, which led to him being banned for nine days by the British Horseracing Authority.

Selection from our TurfMeister in Ireland……
Clonmel 14.45……DOUBLE IRISH……won easily over some decent maidens at Leopardstown last tme out with the runner-up subsequently winning, looks sound form and a EW saver can be had at 4/1 with SeannieMac
