Ripon Timeform : July 6th 2015

Keith Dalgleish

Yesterday we were left bemoaning our selections as we went with a Dalgleish at Ayr yesterday with Moon Arc and Sound Advice only to be on the ‘wrong double’ as the man in form landed with Corton Lad and Argaki….aaarggghh!!

Today he has four running up there, with Argaki attempting back to back victories on consecutive days over a furlong less in the last up there. It’s not inconceivable for all four to place although we don’t know much about the two year olds, if your’e looking at trebles and lucky 15’s

We also feature today’s racing with a Ripon Timeform racecard for those seeking some inspiration from the speedmeisters and give our view on just one of those races…..

Anyone wanting want to get on our next selection, either join the service at the bottom of the page or you can even do it to our PayPal email address where most of you have gone along at £10/month.…opt out any time……..our results are kept up to date in the spreadsheet below!!!!

Today’s Racing News

We’ve just got one selection to consider today from today’s Ripon card…….but first some news regarding Eclipse winner Golden Horn

The Derby winner showed his versatility in maintaining his unbeaten record to win the Eclipse at Sandown under a front-running ride from Frankie Dettori.

John Gosden’s colt had to scrap it out in the home straight when The Grey Gatsby threw down the gauntlet for trainer Kevin Ryan and Jamie Spencer but Golden Horn stuck to his task gamely and eventually went away to record a three-and-a-half length success.

He joins Sea The Stars as the only horse in the last 26 years to follow up Derby success by winning at the Esher track and now stands at a perfect five from five.

He showed a lot of guts and he went away in the end.

Frankie Dettori

Dettori had promised to avoid a tactical race by making the running and despite being slow from the stalls, he immediately sent Golden Horn to the front.

The Grey Gatsby arrived on the scene to throw down a sustained challenge in the home straight and for a few strides it seemed as if Golden Horn was going to struggle to repel the challenger.

Dettori galvanised his mount and to the delight of the Sandown crowd he became the first horse since Halling in 1996 to make all and win the Eclipse.

TREVE 3.50

Today’s feature race….

Ripon 19.05….

This could be another literal ‘headlamper’ as running in the last and finishing last….we would still be looking for him after the horse boxes have been packed up and returning to their HQ’s.

Hopefully that’s not going to be the case with SPACE WAR. Mick Easterby’s charge has come down the weights  and was hemmed in last time out  at Beveley. Any improvement should see him hit the frame and is a best each-way 15/2 with SkyBet this morning.

Today’s Ripon Timeform…

18.35 Kirkgate Maiden Auction Fillies’ Stakes (5) 6f

Timeform Top Rated
95 8. LITTLE SWIFT David Simcock Oisin Murphy
79 6. LADY ARGENTUM Richard Fahey Tony Hamilton
73p 2. ANUSHKA NOO NOO Ollie Pears Jacob Butterfield (3)

Analyst’s Verdict: Little Swift should take all the beating having pulled clear of a big-field with a promising newcomer at Newbury last time. Newcomer Fast Cat could give a good account first-time up, while Anushka Noo Noo should have learnt plenty from her debut here last month.
19.05 Bondgate Handicap (5) 6f

Timeform Top Rated
86 5. NEWHOLM David Brown Sean Levey
85 7. WIGGLE Tim Easterby Rachel Richardson (5)
84 1. ESCRICK David Simcock Oisin Murphy

Analyst’s Verdict: Classical Rose could leave her form behind now going handicapping back over a sprint trip and is selected. Wiggle and Newholm are closely matched from their recent Doncaster meeting and should figure prominently again.
19.35 21 Engineer Regiment Sapper Handicap (4) 1½m10y

Timeform Top Rated
96 5. SWAHEEN Julie Camacho I. J. Brennan
95 6. MULTELLIE Tim Easterby David Allan
94 2. PETERHOUSE Jason Ward Tom Eaves

Analyst’s Verdict: Quite a few to keep on side despite the small field, with Swaheen getting the vote down in grade having shaped well again at Musselburgh last time. Tim Easterby’s pair Medina Sidonia and Multellie are both considered also, along with Peterhouse.
20.05 Wilmot-Smith Memorial Handicap (3) 6f

Timeform Top Rated
108 3. CLASSIC WIN Saeed bin Suroor James Doyle
107 8. SHOWSTOPPA Mark Johnston Franny Norton
106 6. MIGHTY ZIP Kevin Ryan Oisin Murphy

Analyst’s Verdict: Spirit of Zeb picked up where he left off in 2014 with victory at Hamilton and looks a solid proposition. Classic Win has questions to answer after shaping as if amiss at Sandown but clearly remains with potential if all is still well, while Mighty Zip looks on a fair mark back sprinting.
20.35 SIS Live Maiden Stakes (5) 1m

Timeform Top Rated
90p 8. PYJAMA PARTY William Haggas James Doyle
80 4. COOPER Kevin Ryan Keagan Latham
73 3. ALMARED James Fanshawe Tom Queally

Analyst’s Verdict: Hard to see past Pyjama Party and he can put this race to bed readily. Cooper and Almared should be right there in the hunt for the placings in a maiden that won’t take much winning.
21.05 Childrens Festival Circus Here 3rd August Handicap (5) 1m

Timeform Top Rated
81 1. DAY OF THE EAGLE Michael Easterby Duran Fentiman
80 2. SHAMAHEART Geoffrey Harker Phil Dennis (7)
80 5. AHOY THERE Tom Tate Andrew Elliott

Analyst’s Verdict: A good opportunity for Day of The Eagle to get the hat-trick up. His stablemate Space War is interesting, while Shamaheart should be in the hunt for the minor honours at the very least.
