12.40 Connolly’s Red Mills Irish European Breeders Fund Auction Novice Hurdle 2m3f

Timeform Top Rated:
140p 1. CITY ISLAND Martin Brassil M. P. Walsh
139 2. CHAVI ARTIST Thomas Mullins D. J. Mullins
113 7. EDELWEIS DE L’AUBE P. A. Fahy Sarah Kavanagh (7)

Analyst’s Verdict:
City Island looks a smart prospect and can follow up his comfortable victory at Leopardstown over Christmas. Chavi Artist is likely to prove the main threat if able to back up his latest effort.

1.10 Cavan Developments Maiden Hurdle (D.I) 2m

Timeform Top Rated:
144 2. DEBUCHET Ms Margaret Mullins Mr P. W. Mullins
123p 17. SKY MARSHAL Charles Byrnes Davy Russell
122 24. EMILY MOON Mrs J. Harrington Robbie Power

Analyst’s Verdict:
Emily Moon has run well in a couple of above-average contests and could be the answer in a tricky maiden hurdle. Debuchet unquestionably sets the standard, but has something to prove back from a beak. Sky Marshal and Empire Escape are a couple of others who may have a say.

1.40 Cavan Developments Maiden Hurdle (D.II) 2m

Timeform Top Rated:
127p 3. ALL FOR JOY Oliver McKiernan B. Browne (5)
126 1. ADVANTAGE POINT Edward P. Harty R. C. Colgan
110p 12. FAUGUERNON Noel Meade Sean Flanagan

Analyst’s Verdict:
All For Joy and Advantage Point are the clear form picks but the former is arguably open to more improvement so shades the vote. Fauguernon was useful on the level in France and can be expected to leave his hurdles debut behind.

2.10 BBA Ireland Limited Opera Hat Mares Chase (Listed) 2m

Timeform Top Rated:
162p 7. PRAVALAGUNA W. P. Mullins P. Townend
160 2. SYNOPSIS Gordon Elliott J. W. Kennedy
160? 1. BAIE DES ILES Ross O’Sullivan R. Walsh

Analyst’s Verdict:
Pravalaguna was an impressive winner at Limerick over Christmas and can take this step up in class in her stride. Teacher’s Pet is on a long losing run, but remains in form, and could be the danger.

2.40 EMS Copiers Rated Novice Hurdle 2m

Timeform Top Rated:
143p 5. KONITHO Joseph Patrick O’Brien M. P. Walsh
142p 1. BAND OF OUTLAWS Joseph Patrick O’Brien J. J. Slevin
139 3. ELYSIAN PLAINS Gordon Elliott Keith Donoghue

Analyst’s Verdict:
Connections were eyeing up the Triumph for Konitho after his win on debut for Joseph O’Brien in a C&D event a fortnight ago and it’s easy to see why given the manner of his success. He’s open to further improvement and can come out on top again before having his sights raised. Stablemate Band of Outlaws and Maze Runner are feared most.

3.10 O’Driscoll O’Neil Handicap Chase 2½m

Timeform Top Rated:
143 1. VELOCITY BOY W. P. Murphy Denis O’Regan
141 6. BILBO BAGINS Adrian Murray Sean Flanagan
139 4. ROARING BULL Gordon Elliott J. W. Kennedy

Analyst’s Verdict:
Velocity Boy was not seen to anything like best effect at Fairyhouse in December and remains of interest back down in trip off what is potentially a handy mark. Bilbo Bagins looked better than ever when runner-up at Galway in October and is feared most ahead of Peculiar Genius.

3.40 Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle 2m

Timeform Top Rated:
125 21. GLENDAARS WARRIOR Dermot Anthony McLoughlin Patrick O’Hanlon (2)
124 12. SHE’S MADE IT Padraig Roche L. P. Gilligan
123 11. CAPPUCCINO MAN Oliver McKiernan Mr M. J. Stenson (2)

Analyst’s Verdict:
It would come as no surprise were a handicap debutant to land this, with Leave Your Mark and Captain Courageous of particular interest. The latter is thrown in on a literal reading of his Flat ability, but the former is probably a safer proposition. Wade Harper is fully exposed but capable of making his presence felt.

4.10 Jordan’s Centra (Pro/Am) I.N.H. Flat 2m

Timeform Top Rated:
109p 4. FRONT VIEW Joseph Patrick O’Brien Mr D. O’Connor
100p 10. ZAMBEZIR Noel Meade Mr M. J. O’Hare (3)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Front View was no match for a very useful Willie Mullins opponent at Gowran 16 days ago, but he did a lot right in putting distance between himself and the rest and he’s up to winning a race like this. Zambezir also showed plenty on debut, while Special Brute is perhaps the pick of the newcomers.
