Terry Biddlecombe RIP
Today starts with extremely sad news with the passing of Terry Biddlecombe.
His wife, Henrietta Knight, led the tributes to her husband who died on Sunday aged 72, describing the former champion jockey as “a wonderful friend.”
Biddlecombe married trainer Knight in 1995, and the pair enjoyed many memorable achievements in racing including three victories in the Cheltenham Gold Cup with Best Mate.
Personally, we remember him in what would be our early introduction to racing in the late 60’s, with our annual punt on the Grand National.
Terry Biddlecombe won the Gold Cup aboard Woodland Venture in 1967 and had a best placed 2nd National finish on Gay Trip in 1972.
Today’s Racing News is our first post since Boxing Day when our one and only advised selection SILVINIACO CONTI took the big race at 7/2…..though we had some good 6/1 about him earlier that week.
So it’s been a while……but with the poor standard on offer it’s been a real struggle to come up with anything worthwhile. Today is no paradise either, with the risk of abandonment due to the onset of another bout of gale force weather, we’ve managed a couple of selections for today.
They are tentative selections however, as it’s another day of Grade 5 & 6 on offer……bet with small stakes!!!!!

On the flat at Wolverhampton…..
Wolverhampton 15.10……Taxiformissbyron is one we have had some good pick ups on throughout the summer turf season and she has good claims here at an EW backable 9/1 with bet365, although she looks to be a little on the drift at the moment so maybe everything isn’t completely right with her? With that in mind we will have an EW saver on the unexposed handicap debutant ECO WARRIOR. John Hills’ entry was second here on his return from a four-month absence and should strip fitter today at a best 8/1 with Skybet
Wolverhampton 15.40……another Grade 6 affair with just minimal stakes advised…..Midnight Bahia scored here over C&D a year ago and is just 1lb higher today. She would have been the selection but hasn’t won from fresh so probably needs the run….however a great priced EW option at 12/1 with bet365. We’ll have a tentative vote on IMPECCABILITY who posted a much better effort when beaten a length in similar company here last time out. Staying on at the finish and off bottom rung today is another opportunity for her at an EW saver best 11/2 with Skybet
