Thursday Newsletter – 21st February

A nice win from the intro notes with Dan Skelton’s Redzor supplemented by a nice 9/1 advised members winner with Danny NcMenamin up top on Ben Pauling’s Skidoosh yesterday.

There’s meets from Sedgefield and Huntingdon today with Timeform below for the latter.

At Sedgefield in the opener, (13.35) – one we backed LTO, Iain Jardine’s So Satisfied goes at below our threshold odds at around 3’s for those backing on 2nd & 3rd run. It’s a odd looking field where all the pace setters have little or no form at a track where they tend to go well.

Jedd’s Groveman looks another one for the lumpers in the (14.10) – Joe Colliver didn’t give him the best of rides LTO at Donny and with an error free round should go close.

Finally in the last (17.00) Micky Hammond is in fine form and Dontdelay is another on offer around 4’s who should go close. LTO wasn’t too far back in 4th after a few jumping errors but his race prior was a nice battling win under this pilot and should he get this extra trip.

There’s two member suggestions below coming from Huntingdon.

For those on the £1k to £10k challenge it’s currently a 35% win/place strike rate…..our bank is now £763.64 and stakes are now £9.55 EW

2.15 Mansionbet Handicap Hurdle (5) 2½m145y

Timeform Top Rated:
111 7. AGE OF WISDOM Gary Moore Joshua Moore
110 5. HEAR THE CHIMES Shaun Harris Sam Twiston-Davies
108 10. ERMYN’S EMERALD Pat Phelan Niall Houlihan (7)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Age of Wisdom looks interesting now venturing into handicaps at this low level given his fairly useful Flat form so he gets the nod before market clues. Hear The Chimes, Galactic Power and Ermyn’s Emerald are a trio of others to consider.

2.50 Mansionbet Novices’ Hurdle (4) 1m7f171y

Timeform Top Rated:
135p 1. ANYTIME WILL DO Dan Skelton Harry Skelton
132 9. CHAPARRAL PRINCE Nicky Henderson Nico de Boinville
128 3. FRANSHAM Pam Sly Kielan Woods

Analyst’s Verdict:
Anytime Will Do is a fine prospect and he can make it 4 out of 4 under Rules. Chaparral Prince hasn’t looked entirely straightforward but clearly has plenty of ability, whilst better can be expected from Hes No Trouble.

3.25 Download The Mansionbet App Handicap Hurdle (4) 1m7f171y

Timeform Top Rated:
129p 9. THE KNOT IS TIED Neil King Bryony Frost
128 13. ORIENTAL FLAME Charlie Mann Harry Bannister
127 1. KNIGHT DESTROYER Jonjo O’Neill Jonjo O’Neill Jr. (5)

Analyst’s Verdict:
The Knot Is Tied developed into a fairly useful stayer on the level in 2018 and following a promising start to his hurdles career, he looks well weighted now handicapping factoring in a handy age allowance. There’s depth to this race though, with The Vollan and Celtic Joy among the likely improvers.

4.00 Mansionbet Chase (Novices’ Limited Handicap) (3) 2m104y

Timeform Top Rated:
146p 1. CLONDAW CASTLE Tom George Ciaran Gethings
145 3. PEPPAY LE PUGH Dan Skelton Harry Skelton
144 4. RAILROAD JUNKIE Evan Williams Sean Bowen

Analyst’s Verdict:
Very hard to split these but Clondaw Castle was impressive when pinging round Leicester last month and should go on improving. He gets the vote over Railroad Junkie.

4.35 Mansionbet John Bigg Oxo Handicap Chase (4) 2m3f189y

Timeform Top Rated:
126p 3. GENERAL BUX Sophie Leech Ciaran Gethings
125 5. AIR DE ROCK Venetia Williams Charlie Deutsch
124 1. ZAMPARELLI Dan Skelton Harry Skelton

Analyst’s Verdict:
General Bux jumped boldly when an impressive all-the-way winner on his C&D chase bow early last month and a 9 lb rise doesn’t look enough to stop him with further improvement very much on the cards. Air de Rock is another who has made a good start to life over fences and is feared most ahead of Dan Skelton’s Zamparelli, who has been freshened up since a fall at Newbury in November.

5.10 Mansionbet Mares’ Maiden Hurdle (4) 2½m145y

Timeform Top Rated:
131 5. FESTIVAL DAWN Philip Hobbs Tom O’Brien
125 7. LITTLE MILLIE Neil King Bryony Frost
122p 8. LOVEHERANDLEAVEHER Nicky Henderson Nico de Boinville

Analyst’s Verdict:
Festival Dawn was possibly amiss when last seen in November but she sets a clear standard on her previous efforts so is worth another chance. Loveherandleaverher and Little Millie are others to consider.
